I looked out from the window of the classroom.

'5 more minutes' I thought, as I banged my head softly on the desk.

Don't get me wrong, Mrs. Mortimer's classes were fun, but- oh, who am I kidding? They were absolutely boring!

The afternoon sun was on its peak position right now. The summer breeze softly swaying the leaves of the trees, and students sitting on the grass outside the University chatting with their friends, or listening to music. Some were drinking the free beer that a stall was handing over.

Suddenly the bell rang, bringing me out of my day dream. I snatched my bag and hurriedly moved out of the class. Feature Writing was my last lecture for the day.

I started walking towards the general direction of my apartment who I shared with my best friend of 8 years.

Speaking of whom, "Hey! Aria! Wait up." James said jogging to catch up.

"Hello, Jimmy. How was school today?" I ask with a teasing smile on my face.

He just game me a dry stare and kept walking.

James Xavier has been my best friend for the 8 years, and counting. His face was glistening with sweat as he tried to catch his breath from running.

We became friends in grade 6. When I first saw him, I didn't really see him. I just saw the big pile of books he was carrying. A bully knocked them over and started teasing him so I punched the bully in the nose and helped James carry his books. I did get in a lot of trouble for that but I also gained a friend who helped me through every homework and kept me sane and out of harms way for all these years.

"What's the plan for tonight?" He asked, after walking a little distance.

Our apartment was fairly close to the University of Lawrence. A 20 minute walk at the maximum. James was in his second year of medical while I was in my second year of Journalism.

"Same old, assignments, tumblr, Netflix, and pizza." I said. "Wait, how come you're out so early?"

Studying to become a doctor meant having classes from 8 in the morning to 5 in the evening. I glanced at my watch and saw that it was only 4.

James had always dreamt of starting his own practice as a doctor. He was one of the scholars in his class and was also going to start an internship at a reputed hospital at the end of his year.

"I got a free lecture. I was actually going to wait for you outside but got a little late."

I just nodded my head. I could see our building from here. All 20 floors of it. We lived in the penthouse. Thanks to our families that were blooming in money, we had plenty of allowance and a 'all we want supply of electronics' as James would like to call it.

James' mother and my father had started a Law Firm together in their youth. They were the best of friends in college and had the idea while being drunk at a party. It was through this company that they met their partners which was his dad and my mom.

It was all out of a fairytale and we had to listen to this story ever since I remember every Christmas. We would all huddle up near the Christmas tree after the dinner and my dad would start.
