"Amber! Get your ass up!" My mom screams from downstairs.
"But Mom... I'm just... So... Tired..." I mumble as I threw the covers over my head. I don't care that I'm going to be late for school. I hate 98% of the people there anyway.
"If you don't get up in the next 3 seconds you're not doing anything this weekend," She threatens.
Even though she usually doesn't follow through with these statements, I slowly push myself up off the bed. My dad had already gone off to work a half an hour before I even woke up. That's a good thing though because he usually does follow through with his punishments and they're always pretty tough.
"Alright, alright. I'm up," I yell back to her.
"You better be!"
I groan. She can be SO annoying. I walk into the bathroom and scoff at my reflection. My hair was in a tangled mess of an afro around my head. I had mascara smeared all over my eyes. I retrieve the pink make up remover bottle from my zebra bag and swipe it over my eyes with a cotton ball. I drag a brush through my frizzy hair and plug the flat iron in. I hate getting ready.
"Amber!" My mom interrupts my thoughts. "Are you getting ready?"
"No, Mom, I'm jumping on a trampoline," I say sarcastically.
"I don't want to hear it from you," she snaps back. "Just get ready, and quickly. You have fifteen minutes to get down here."
"Alright," I yawn. I flat iron my hair and apply some mascara. After brushing my teeth and picking some clothes out, I stumble downstairs to get breakfast. I'm not awake yet. I wish I liked coffee.
"Hurry, hurry, hurry!" My mom nags. She always thinks we're on a crunch for time even when we're not.
"Calm down, Mom. We have like ten minutes before I have to leave." My bus comes at 7:45 and it's 7:34. After I finish eating a breakfast of a cinnamon raisin bagel with peanut butter and a yogurt, we're out the door and in the car. The bus stop is a half a mile from my house so she always drives me. I'm 14 and I can't wait until I can drive. We pull up to the stop just as the bus pulls up. Time for another fun day at school... Not.
