Zane knew there was no escape possible when a cavity in the damp, dark cave came crashing to the ground. As the sound rang in his ears, he swore he heard a huff and a grunt over his right shoulder. Before he could glance over, he was being thrown to the ground by the unknown beast. While the air raced by his ears, a stalactite connected with his forehead, and pain erupted like an explosion in his head multiple times as he hit the damp floor. The pain never ended until unconsciousness grabbed him and took him away forever.
