Malaya *POV*

First day of North Hollywood High School and I'm very nervous. The halls are empty and  walking to room C7. The sound of my brown boots clacking against the polished floor gives me a reassurance of confidence.

I opened the door to reveal an almost full classroom and a small Hispanic lady with round glasses and red lipstick staring me up and down.

"You must be Malaya" the old woman smiled hurrying over to me "I'm Mrs Delcaso and welcome to Spanish class" she smiled
"Hi" I slightly waved to the class
"Not to embarrass you but before you sit down I would like you to introduce yourself to the class" she muted me slightly to the centre of the floor
"I'm Malaya Hadley, I'm 15 years old" as soon as I opened my mouth I noticed little gasps "I'm from London, I like to sing and my favourite colour is purple" I smiled again nervously
"Wonderful, take a seat next to Jaden, back corner"

I averted my eyes to the back corner to be greeted to a mixed boy with bright teeth.

I walked over and sat down in the seat next to him and set out my stuff.

"I'm Jaden" he whispered smiling
"Malaya" I smiled back

"You're from London?" He asked
"Yeah"
"that's cool"

"Jaden! Shut up" Mrs Delcaso yelled from the front
"Was I talking?" He retorted
"Yes"
"I beg to differ" he said as he pretended to smoke on his black ink pen and the whole class snickered at his attitude
"One warning" Mrs Delcaso turned around
"Might as well make it two, I'm smoking in your class" he laughed to himself
"Action - reaction, Jaden"
"Yeah whatever" he turned back to face me and gave me a wide mouthed grin
"She sucks" he whispered
"I guessed" I laughed back

**Skip To Lunch**

We had just finished Chemistry and now it's lunch, my favourite class of the day however I'm a little confused, I still have first day jitters and I'm trying not to stick around Jaden too much since I don't wanna come off clingy.

I was walking to my locker when a caramel, 5'4" girl walked over to me.

"Hey new best friend, wassup" she smiled at me
"Not much new best friend, how you been?" I smiled back opening up my locker
"Woah shit, what's that accent?" She sounded shocked
"I'm from London" I turned to face her
"Alright! Sweet, let's go grab some lunch?"
"Please" I laughed

We walked in to the crowded cafeteria. I already knew that I wasn't gonna bang with school food so I bought a packet of Takis and a Gatorade from the vending machine.
"So new best friend, what's your name?"
"Kori, and yours?"
"Malaya"
"How are you liking it here?" She threw a Cheeto into her mouth
"Not too bad"
"Seen anyone you like yet" she playfully nudged me
"No" I smiled at my Takis
"Girl, you lying to me, spill" she laughed
"Aight, he's in my Spanish, Physics, Art, History and Geography class, he's like 5'9" and he-"
"NO WAY" she yelled "you like Jaden" she smirked
"How'd you guess" I smiled
"Black magic lmao" 💀
"He's so cute"
"He's also the school player" she drank her Mt. Dew
"Fuck" I sighed "game over before it even began"
"He's having a party on the weekend, you should come"
"Hmmm, I'll see"
"Imma style you up"
"Please" I laughed

**End of School**

Me and Kori were walking to Starbucks when we spotted a group of about 5 or 4 boys across the street
"Hey, Jaden, 3 o'clock" she whispered to me as he started nearing us. I nodded slowly to make sure she knew I heard
"Wassup" he smiled at us
"Nothing" I smiled back
"So, um, I'm having a party after school on Friday and I wanted to know if you're down for coming" he scratched the back of his neck nervously
"She'll be there" Kori said quickly
"What she said" I laughed
"Alright" he smiled and walked back to his friends who were now laughing and pushing each other.
"He so likes you" Kori pushed me as he ran back to the other side of the street
"I wish" I laughed
"Guess we'll find out on Friday" she smirked

I've only been at this school for a day and I already got hella heart eyes for a kid ✨
