Forgetting You

Chapter 1

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to Elissa, happy birthday to you."

Sings a cheering crowd as I blow out the birthday candles, today is my 10th birthday. I have my best friend beside me; josh, his family, my family and some friends from school. What more could I ask for.

"Did you make a wish Elissa?"

Asks mum.

"Yes but I can't tell you, not even a little."

I say in my childish voice.

"Not even me?"

Asks josh.

"Not even you."

I tease him.

"It's time to cut the cake."

Yells mum.

She hands me the knife and says

"Be very careful."

I hold the knife over the cake and push it to the very bottom.

"She touched the bottom!"

Yells my younger sister; Katy.

"You have to kiss the nearest boy."

Says dad.

"Eww!"

Shouts Katy, covering her eyes.

Before I knew it, josh leans over and kisses my cheek.

I see a flash before he pulls away.

"That's such a nice picture."

Says mum to josh's mum; Michelle.

"That's adorable. Chris, come over here and look at this picture."

Says Michelle while Chris, Josh's dad walks over.

"Gettin' the ladies joshie."

Says Chris.

Josh goes bright red, so do I.

The rest of the night is filled with games,opening presents and eating cake.

- a few days later -

"Elissa, lets play a trick on your mum and my mum."

Says josh.

"What sort of trick?"

I question him.

"I pretend I'm hurt and you have to help me walk inside."

He explains.

"Yeah."

I say jumping up and down.

We walk inside to our mums and Michelle asks

"What's wrong josh?"

He starts crying so I say

"We were playing on the grass and josh tripped and fell on his arm."

I tell them.

"Let me have a look."

Says mum, she's a nurse so she knows what she is doing.

Josh nods his head and holds out his arm.

Mum checks his arm and occasionally says

"Does this hurt?"

Josh nods in pain.
