The pain of love can come as a surprise after the afterglow has faded and the smoke is cleared from your eyes. After we realize that we're both human and we do make mistakes. When neither of us want to give because we both want to take. The pain of love can turn a heart so cold, can make a spirit feel broken and make a soul feel so old. When the cost of holding you close seems too high to pay and the stakes of kissing you seem too much to pay. The pain of love destroys all the hope that we'll survive till the end, so maybe we shouldn't risk going farther and just remain being friends.
