PREVIEW! This is a new book I have started writing, let me know what you guys think.
"I'm sorry, the cancer has progressed, you now have stage 4 lung cancer."
Those were the words I didn't want to hear. I wanted them to say I had gotten better, not worse.
"How long?" I asked my hoarse voice cracking
"Miss -" he started
"How long?" I demanded my voice sounding a little firmer
"A year, give or take." He said with sympathy in his voice and in his eyes.
"Right." I said pondering this new fact, only a year? That can't be right. "Can I leave now?" I asked him not wanting him to see the tears that were threatening to spill.
"Sure thing, see you next week for treatment?" He asked with a worried look etched on his face.
"No, I'm cancelling all my treatments from now on, thank you for all you have done for me." I said as I stood up, trying to make a hasty exit before he could change my mind.
I flopped down on to my bed as the sobs that I fought the whole way home ripped through my body. This is pathetic, get up and stop being a blubbering baby I thought as I peered at my reflection in the mirror at the end of my bed.
