Let's Clear the Air

Before we jump into the wonderful world of feminism we need to clear some misconceptions.

The first thing that needs to be cleared up is that feminism is not just for women: literally anyone with an open mind can be a feminist. Any man, woman, and child can be a feminist.

There is a fine, fine line between misandry and feminism. A misandrist  is a person that hates men, and will do anything in her power to demean men (a misandrist is basically the polar opposite of a misogynist). We do not hate men (I can prove it by the fact that I myself am a male).  A misandrist will fight to have women be the "ultimate gender" whereas a feminist will fight for equality for both genders, for all races, and all sexual orientations. 

A feminist can be bigoted. A bigot, according to the Marriam-Webster Dictionary means " a person who strongly and unfairly dislikes other people, ideas, etc." So, by definition a feminist can also be a bigot, especially when that feminist is disrespecting another person's beliefs. In short, feminists can be bigots, liberals can be bigots, conservatives can be bigots: anyone can be bigoted.  

Feminists do not hate the idea of stay-at-home-moms. We are accepting to the idea that a woman wants to stay home with her children; let me rephrase the idea that anyone can be a feminist. A teacher can be a feminist, a factory worker can be a feminist, even a maid can be a feminist.

There are plenty more stereotypes of feminists that I could discuss and shoot down, however, I'd much rather get to writing more interesting things about the wonderful world of feminism, a topic of which I care deeply about. Now, you may be wondering why some weirdo from Michigan is writing about feminism. The answer is simple, really. I'm writing to inform people about feminism, along with my experience with the subject.
