She burns like the sun

Words cannot describe how much I detest Louise. Louise is my roommate, and not only does she have the mannerisms of a pig, she is also all over Matt every time he comes to visit.

'Louise, can you please clear up your fucking plates that have fucking collected over the past fucking week?' I snap as she slams her laptop down and practically throws them all into the sink and begins to scrub them.

'No need to shout.' She mumbles.

'I have been asking you to wash them up for the past week, there'll be none left if you just hoard them all in the pig-sty you call a bedroom.' I shout back.

'Watch your fucking mouth.' She calls back, launching herself at me. I manage to roll on top of her and pin her arms down.

'How about you calm the fuck down.' I say as she struggles.

'Almost  every guy here can imagine what happens next.' A voice calls from the doorway. Louise goes limp with defeat and I climb off of her, fixing my hair.

'Shut up Marcus.' I remark, giving him a jokey punch on the arm. 'I wouldn't do that with any girl never mind that witch.' He laughs and rubs the back of his neck as Louise scowls.

'Do you want to head down and get something to eat before the lecture?' He asks, looking at me with his rich brown eyes.

'Yeah sure.' I say, grabbing  my camouflage bag. We head down to the courtyard after buying a pot of cold pasta from the canteen.

'So Ashlea.' Marcus says.

'So Marcus.' I mock him and he scowls.

'How is Matt doing?' He asks.

'Good, his band is really coming up now, they have a performance near here in a few weeks so I might go and watch. He is coming to visit in a few days.' I ramble on, thinking about Matt.

'Oh, great.' Marcus says. 'Ashlea, you know, out of sight, out of mind.'

'What do you me-' I begin as he leans in and kisses me. I jerk back.

Matt's POV

I hope she's pleased I have drive all this way to surprise her.

'Oh, hi Louise.' I say awkwardly as she opens the door.

'Oh hello Matthew. Long time no see.' She purrs.

'Do you know where Ash is?' I enquire, really not wishing to have to talk to her for much longer.

'She's gone to the courtyard with Marcus.' She says, swishing her long blonde hair. I assume she is trying to be seductive.

'Erm, thanks.' I awkwardly say and I turn to go and find her. Ugh, so many people, how am I ever meant to find her. Oh there she is. What?! Did he just?! I can't believe she would do that!

'Sorry to interrupt, but what the fuck do you think you're doing?!' I scorn at Marcus, as Ashlea sits there looking horrified.

'Open playing field mate.' He returns with a smirk.

'Open fucking playing field?! We're engaged and you know we are. I showed you my ring.' Ashlea pipes up.

'Oh you can't talk. How long have you two been at it behind my back then huh?' I shout, we are now gathering an audience.

'We aren't together, I didn't ask him to kiss me did I?! He just did!' She screeches, her eyes welling up with tears.

'You know what, fucking forget it!' I yell, storming off.

Ashlea's POV

'This is your fault you twat!' I scream at Marcus as he runs a hand through his curly brown hair.

'Don't blame me babe.' He chuckles and I slap him.

'I'm through with this fucking place; it's caused me nothing but grief. I'd rather live on the streets than get my degree here.' I shout, and with that I leave to go and find Matt.

After searching for about an hour I find him behind the bins with a cigarette.

'Since when do you smoke?' I ask him.

'Since about 45 minutes ago. Tastes like shit.' He replies, stubbing it out on the wall.

'You've got to believe me, I didn't know he was going to do that, and I just tore fucking strips off him. I love you, and only you. I swear on my life. Sure I like, well, liked Marcus as a friend, but not like that. I am leaving this place, I'm already sick of it, I'll come back to Teignmouth and get my old job back.' I am practically grovelling now, but I don't want him to leave me - I couldn't bare it if he left me.

'Do you pwomise?' He asks me, looking up with tears in his eyes.

'Yes, yes of course I do. I love you more than anything else in the world.' I whisper, kneeling down so I can see eye to eye with him. He breathes a sigh of relief and pulls me into a hug which I cherish.

'Don't ever scare me like that again - I thought I was going to lose you.' I whimper into his shoulder and he pulls me in tighter, kissing me on top of my head.

We head back to my dorm and Louise swoons when Matt comes in.

'We are just packing up my stuff Louise, I'm leaving. Touch him and I kill you.' I growl defensively as she looks put out.

'Where is your clothes draw?' He asks, rifling around my room.

'Back left corner. Why?' I say without looking up. He wraps his arms around my waist from behind.

'Well, you pack the books and things, and I'll pack the fun stuff.' He says with a wink, oh, he wants to pack my underwear.

'Cheeky bugger!' I reply, turning round so his hands are on the small of my back and my hand is on his cheek. He leans in and kisses me gently and I can practically feel Louise's temperature rising. He averts his lips to my neck and I put my hands on his shoulders with a giggle.

'I'm going out.' I hear Louise say with a strop and I restrain my laughter.

'Matt, we need to pack up my stuff.' I groan, not wanting to leave the moment. He pulls away from me reluctantly and grabs a box, neatly emptying the contents of my drawers into it. We are done in an hour and I find my way to reception.

After about half an hour of negotiating various paperwork with the secretary, I am free to go and we hop in Matt's car with my boxes safely in the boot. Aagh, back to good old Teignmouth.
