They're coming and I don't have a place to hide. The trees tower above me, blocking the harsh moonlight from illuminating my path. So I stumble blindly. Leaves crunch and animals scurry in the surrounding woodland. I don't want to be found.
Never again.
I hear howling in the distance and know it's them. My legs become weak and fail me, sending me tumbling. I don't feel pain, just fear. Then a deafening growl to my left frightens me to my core. The ground vibrates and winds howl out their discontent. I jump away from the noise, whimpering and shaking in fear.
Scrambling backwards, moving through the dirt, trying to get away.
Several other loud growls resonate around me, daring me to go further. Whining, I curl in on myself, trying to become as small as possible. The steps come closer, a dull thud against the forest floor. I move backwards trying to get away from them but they get louder, this freezes me in absolute terror. One dangerous and low growl sounds right in front of me, but I dare not look up, cowering away further and covering my head in defence.
The growling suddenly stops. I feel a shift in my surrounding atmosphere and slight shuffling from the wolf in front of me. A gasp escapes my lips and I flinch when a warm hand is pressed to my arm. I move away, fearful of the familiar pain that touch will bring. Dark growling starts again, louder and more terrifying than before. A whimper escapes, tears falling down my face and onto the ground. A distant sound is clear, thunder, a foreboding sound telling tales of future pain.
My throat closes over and my breath comes out in short sharp pants, mist like the darkening clouds above. The gripping panic and fear take hold of my body, icy cold fingers stroking my shattered soul. Black dots dance across my vision, like a swarm promising darkness but not relief. In the distance I hear the pounding of paws against the hard ground, like thunder in my ears. I hope that, just maybe, it's someone coming to save me but I know they won't be fast enough and even if they were they wouldn't help me.
The snap of a twig to my left startles me so much that I look up to the noise. There standing so close to me is the man of my nightmares. He gives me a frightening smirk and reaches for me. I crawl backwards in terror, trying to get away from the man that has been my tormentor for as long as I can remember. He grabs my ankle and pulls me towards him. I clutch at the ground trying to stop my body from moving and escape his grasp, but his grip is too strong. The rough ground scratches and pulls at my back but the pain is nothing compared to what will come. I am flung forwards and hit against his chest. His large calloused hand wraps around my throat, cutting of my air supply. His eyes burn with an intense fury so familiar and harrowing.
"No!!" I whisper, my will to escape, to be free, taking hold. The sky beings to cry with me as tears trail down my cheeks. Making a last attempt let out a blood curdling scream and the world goes black.
