The Locket

The First Day

 The field is where I go to let go. The field is where I go away. The field is where I go home. The first day of my Junior year has finally arrived. As I pull into the student parking lot, I think to myself; I just have to get through the day, then I can go to the fields and let it all out. I get out of my truck and I start heading towards the school. As I'm getting my history book out of my locker I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn around and see no other than the school's queen bee and her possy, Britney Collins.

"Well, well, well, look who it is ladies. Sage Bowman, the school nerd," Britney says with a laugh. Getting really tired of her, I just roll my eyes and push past her. "Hey, I'm not done talking to you," Britney says grabbing my elbow. I turn around about to punch her in her pretty little face when a hand stops me. I shake my hand free and point my finger at her.

"Listen here you spoiled, no good, preppy little brat. This year is a new year and I'm not going to put up with you anymore! You have bullied me everyday for the past 9 years and I'm-" I was suddenly cut off by someone dragging me away. I turn and see my best friend, Raven. Once we are out of earshot, I turn and glare at her.

"What? If I hadn't drug you away, you would still be there going off on her and you would be late for homeroom." Just as she said that, I heard the 45 second bell ring. I hug her quickly and laugh, seeing that she is my best friend I couldn't stay mad at her for very long. "I have homeroom with you dingis," she says with a short laugh. I smile and open the door. As I walk in I notice a super cute guy sitting in the back. He has golden hair that swoops to the side, bright blue eyes, a chiseled jaw, and a very muscular build.

"Hey I'll catch up with you in a second, save me a seat." I say looking at the cute guy. Raven gives me a puzzled look then goes and finds two empty seats. I head towards cute guy then I plop down in the empty seat next to him. Now looking up close he is way more attractive than I thought. He is wearing an all black shirt, a grey beanie, slim fit jeans, black Vans, and is wearing a leather jacket to top it all off. I guess he caught me staring because when I got up to his face a smirk was plastered on his lips.

"Take a picture it will last longer," he says with a laugh. I laugh back at his joke and blush.

"I would but flash photography scares the animals." Not giving him enough time to respond I pick up my backpack and walk over to Raven. She gives me another confused look then smiles and shakes her head.

After school I walk to my locker and put my AP Calculus book back in my locker and I race to my car. I am about 20 feet away when I see cute guy leaning against it. I narrow my eyes, and walk over to him.

"Um.. Can I help you with something?" I ask confused.

" Yeah, actually you can. Give me a ride home." He blatantly states.

"Now why would I do such a thing? I just met you, you could be some kind of murderer." I say with a smile unlocking my car and throwing my bag in the back. "And I have plans right now anyway." I shrug and walk over to the driver's side, then he gets in the passenger seat. I sigh and put my seatbelt on. Deciding to give in because he is cute I say; "Fine but if I'm late it's your fault." As if in surrender, he puts his hands up. As I get to the turn out of the parking lot, I suddenly make a spontaneous decision. "You're new to town right?"

"Uh, yeah I am. Why do you ask?"

"I have something to show you." We sit in silence for a little bit, then something inside me wanted me to get to know more about him. "I never got your name." I say suddenly feeling very shy.

"Joshua, and you are?"

"Sage, and may the odds be ever in your favor."
