FireBird was gone. My best friend, killed by something unknown.
People think it was something innocent, like the sickness that had infected her body a few days before. Some people think it was a natural death, like when someone just randomly dies because of fate. No one thinks it was murder. Except me.
Why? Why am I the only one who thinks someone caused her death on purpose? First of all, there were no wounds, no blood, and no bruises. Also, are town has never had a murder in twenty full years. I don't know why people don't know this, but the chain has to be broken someday.
It does make no sense for FireBird to be murdered though. She had no enemies, and hardly anyone knew who her personality. All people knew was that she was brazen and bold and amazing and basically a dream come to life. She was amazing at sports and I had no idea why she was friends with me.
Me. I was a small girl, with long and stringy dirty blond hair. I also had glasses. I wasn't hot, I wasn't attractive, I wasn't known for my looks, but for my brains, and I was fine with that. In fifth and sixth grade, I was bullied for those exact reasons. Until FireBird came along.
FireBird. Her nickname would make a lot of sense if you knew her. Her long, flawless hair, was the color of fire strait up. It wasn't dyed. It wasn't a wig. It was natural. She also shone bright with her kindness and heart. She was like a phoenix, the original fire bird. That's where she got her nickname from.
Now, we were seventeen and heading off to college. Maybe, the person who killed her didn't want her to leave. That would make sense. She was loved.
I don't think I will convince anyone she was murdered, but I always have myself. I'll find her killer, and turn them over to the deepest, darkest prison in the world. Don't worry FireBird, I will avenge you.
