Her Heartbeat.

My girlfriend was beautiful.
I was deeply in love with her for who she was and nothing less. I loved her big, lovely brown eyes and her soft pink lips. The complexion of her skin reminded me of chocolate, she was sugary with it as well.
She was just beautiful. It was one of the things I never forgot to tell anyone who asked why I loved her.
I was crazy over the way she smiled, how heart-warming were the hugs we shared.
I loved my girlfriend more than anything else in the world.
She was sick though. She had a condition that caused her heart to palpitate uncontrollably. Sudden changes in her mood would often trigger these palpitations leaving her in great pain. I felt sad every time this happened to her, there was nothing I could've done to help. I grew with her from high school hearing her breathe heavily at nights when I'd call her. I had to make sure she was sleeping alright. I remember how anxious I used to feel every time I heard of her collapsing. Even at that age I had a full understanding of what her situation was and I still loved her. I never stopped not once since I met her. I took care of her in small ways and prayed and prayed. We prayed together and lived happily. Arguments came and went and in the end of them all we'd apologize and say we loved each other.
My love for her was dominating my heart, I had to make a move.
-The biggest move any man on the face of this earth could make.

I planned it all on her 21st birthday.
It was amazing. Candles flooded the floor, creating a marvelous pathway to where I sat. The place was dimly lit and some of her favorite love songs were in play.
My lover and I sat, we ate, we talked and we laughed.
I led her to the center of the elegantly dressed room. Just as I took her hand and bestowed a gentle kiss, it span; the tune to which she longed to marry her soulmate -when I found you.

I pulled my queen toward me and held her tightly in my arms, swaying from side to side. I allowed my hands to hold her in the most romantic way possible, giving her the safest feeling in the entire world. Her head stood upon my shoulder and my arm held the back of it.

She didn't break my toes and I most definitely did not break hers. Soon it was over and I had to make that move.

She began to look weak, her smile disappeared then reappeared. I figured if I did it sooner she would feel better.

With water settled in the tear duct of my eyes and a knot in my throat, I kissed her forehead, I slid down on my right knee, I opened that pink box and I questioned her.

"My love, will you marry me?"

She held her face, I heard her sob.
I stood up to her and I held her face too, I kissed her lips and removed the tears with my thumbs.

With her tears all out and a smile on her face she looked at me and said "yes, I will".

I hugged her tight and she squeezed me back.
I was devastated by her sudden palpitations. I was not sure what to do. I held her back, and told her to look at me but she couldn't.
She instantly gained weight and my arms fell weak from the pain.
I shook her thrice, I tapped her skin, I called out to her but there was to reply.

We fell to the floor where I continued to hold her, I didn't know what to do. Tears sprinted down as I began to let go of the strength within me. I accepted that she was my weakness. I rested my head on her palpitating heart and continued my panicking.

In less than 5 seconds the palpitations left, and so did my fiancé.
