I continued my investigator-like duty when we came back to our dorm. I’ve asked Jaray things that could add to what I got from Clarice because I have the feeling that it is not coincidence that I was detained that day and Nicolei just went missing when everybody’s attention was in me.
“So this is why I was called back from detention this fast?” I asked while doing the rest of exercises in Algebra in the living room with my things scattered on the table.
“What?” Jaray answered while trying to finish the second book of his favourite book series. I find it weird, starting from the third book then first, second and the reason behind that is that he bought the third one first and the second the latest. Hmm... But if I’m to read it like that, I’d certainly mixed up the content of the books and be lost in the sequence of events...
“I was called back because Nicolei went missing...”
Jaray seems to be not with me that time; he was there in his demigod world, lost in his thoughts of wishing he was a demigod but hello??? I think being an elemental is already too much, how much more a demigod?
Then he replied, “One of the reasons. Actually there were only two reasons: first is the department wouldn’t want you to stay in there longer especially they wanted to know which element are you and second for the Research and Intelligence Division of the department about Nicolei’s case. They know it is impossible for Nicolei to escape so she might just be somewhere and they need all the information they can get from the persons around her.”
Well that’s a complete answer. Maybe, he just doesn’t want to be so disturbed in reading by my too many follow-up questions.
“But why does it seems like, I don’t see the Research and blah-blah division of this school so concerned to Nicolei?” I put down my pen and pause for a while in what I’m doing- permutations and Combinations exercises.
Jaray closed his book and said, “You know what? I hate being disturbed in reading so I’ll deal with you first. Look, my long been gone guardians have been important assets of this institution so the institution found me that valuable also.”
So... uhmmm... it seems like, that was irrelevant to the topic but I let him continue for what he wants to say...
“I know some information. But it’s not that-it is confidential, it’s just that I’m quite accessible to those unlike other students. Ok, so the institution thinks that its defence have been infiltrated.”
Wait... that reminds me of my dream...
“D5 have tried infiltrating the other institution and they gain access for a short time to those but this institution. We are kept protected from them but during this school year, something seems to be wrong. The Intel division has this sort of device that can pick up, elemental radiation.”
“Elemental Radiation???”
“It’s like energy released by our elemental system. So this device can pick up unregistered radiations and as long as we are legally staying in the grounds of the institution, we are registered.”
I nodded.
“The device seems to pick up something foreign but they cannot detect it. Then when you were detained in the fatals’ quarters, the foreign signal went strong that they can pin-point it already. So, they told me to take you away from there since there’ll be a slight evacuation as the professors deal with the foreign elemental on the loose.”
Alright... this is harder than I thought, I was just asking about Nicolei...
“When I took you out, the signal became so obvious but it doesn’t mean it’s you. They said that it’s just that maybe the foreign subject sensed that he has been detected so he tried to escape making himself vulnerable to the device.”
