twelve // they're all the same

"Aren't we always?" Noah yelled back.

"Yeah, we are responsible!" Jonah jumped in.

Having twin brothers was a blessing, but also a very big curse.

"Hey, do one of you have a phone on you?" I asked as we started down our small gravel driveway. "Mom and Dad still have mine."

Hugo reached into his pocket, pulling out the crappy flip phone that our parents give him in case of an emergency. He tossed it to me. "If you are going to contact Garrett, I recommend calling instead of texting. My phone acts like text messages are the devil."

"That's because you dropped it!" Caspian retorted.

"No," Jonah began, "I think it's because it's a freaking flip phone, Caspian. That thing is ancient! It came out in like 2010."

Noah nodded. "He really does have a point."

I rolled my eyes at the bickering of my brothers as we stepped through the gate that lead out of our yard and onto the sidewalk. They always how to argue about something no matter how important the subject was.

I flipped the open phone, quickly typing Aiden's number into the keypad and pressing it to my ear. He answered on the second ring. "Hello? Who is this?"

"Aiden, it's me. I'm using Hugo's phone since my parents are holding mine captive once again," I explained. "I tried getting it back, but my mother caught me."

The boy on the other line chuckled. "Wow, the only time I have heard of Chicago Beaumont getting caught doing something she couldn't of."

Suddenly, the twins appeared beside me. "She wouldn't have gotten caught if she let us help her!" Noah interjected.

"Yeah, we are the masters if not getting caught. Isn't that right, Chaos?"

"That is correct, Mayhem."

I rolled my eyes at the familiar nicknames they had given to each other, shoving them away from my side. "Ignore them, they are stupid."

"I beg to differ!"

"We are actually quiet smart!"

Of course they were. We all were considered geniuses aside from Caspian that was just below the genius line.

"Anyway, Aiden, I was calling to tell you that we are heading to the park if you wanted to join us."

I heard him sigh. "Sadly, I can't. I'm currently at the mall with Matthew, shopping for new clothes since he decided that my clothes needed replacing. He keeps trying to get me to at least look at the girls' section. It's terrible."

I couldn't believe that Aiden's own brother was trying to force him to be something that he wasn't. It didn't matter if Aiden had to sit down and pee, he was still a boy as much as my brothers were. Why couldn't Aiden's family accept that fact?

"I'll tell you what, Aiden. Once I get ungrounded, Garrett and I will take you shopping for new clothes. You can try on and go into any store you wish, alright?"

"Alright." I could hear the smile in Aiden's voice, but it seemed to automatically falter when he spoke again. "Um, Matthew's coming back with a dress in his hand. Gotta Zayn."

Before I could respond, he hung up. I released a heavy sigh, flipping the phone shut.

"Aiden having a hard time?" Hugo asked.

I nodded. "Most definitely."

A few minutes later of arguing and bickering, we finally arrived at the park. Hugo and Caspian automatically took off to find an ice cream truck while Jonah and Noah took off in the opposite direction. I rolled my eyes, deciding to take a seat on one of the swings.
