Chapter 7 ~ Taste Of Your Own Medicine

Start from the beginning

"I mean- if you would like to be quiet, please."

"Please don't do this."

He carried the case back to me and took a deep breath.

"Be quiet. That is an order, Crane." He tried to stay calm. I decided to shut the hell up and just deal with it.

You should be used to it, Ichabod.

What did I tell you about that name?

You're gonna have to deal with that.

I had to deal with it for the first 14 years of my life. Just leave me alone, Scarecrow.

No.

What?

I said no. I'm not leaving.

Yes you are. Right now.

Nope, I just loove to annoy you.

I tried to ignore Scarecrow as Nygma took out a needle and flicked it.

I breathed deeply through my nose.

"Ready to have a taste of your own medicine, Crane?" He growled.

"Edward, please! This isn't you! This is not the man I knew!" I pleaded.

"You never truly knew who I was. You've only knew me for a week- less, actually!"

"I've read your files!"

"You-you've read my files." He started to laugh loudly. "You've read my files! That makes you soo close to me, like you've known me for years!"

"Please."

"Don't 'Edward,please!' me!"

I looked at him with pleading eyes.

"Don't do that!" He looked back down at the needle, "Fuck it."

My eyes widened, as I hadn't ever heard him swear, and he didn't seem to be the person to-

My thoughts were interrupted by a needle plunging into my shoulder. I could feel the toxin entering my bloodstream, burning my veins as it passed through. I screamed out in pain when it started to play at my vision. I saw the bat everywhere, crawling up the walls and walking across the cieling.

You weak piece of scum! Scarecrow shouted at me. Why aren't you used to this? You made it, you fool!

I squeezed my eyes shut to wait for this to pass over, but my eyeballs were stinging underneath my eyelids and my arms and back started to ache as I was tensing them tightly.

"I'm sorry, Nygma! Please forgive me! I'm sorry!" I screamed, just wanting for the pain to end.

"No." Edward muttered. "No you're not."

I pryed my eyes open just to read his expression.

He was looking at the foor again.

"Edward, I swear to God!"

"Swear to me!" He growled threateningly.

I took a shaky breath, "I swear to you, Eddie."

His eyes darted back up to me.

"What did you call me?" He asked quickly.

I flinched at the sudden pain scrambling it's way up my throat.

"Eddie-AAAAH!"

I felt my brain break and I saw a shadow of the demon bat behind Edward.

"What's wrong?" He sounded worried- for the first time.
