Raven
Moving on to a new apartment could be really exhausting especially when you can't let someone find out your real identity. I have a new place to stay and a new identity. I'm sure glad my job is paying me big time to afford staying in a nice apartment with a nice neighborhood. But I must not befriend anyone because he or she can be a threat. I have learned not to trust anyone at a very young age. I'm not like those teenage girls who can't keep a secret about their crushes nor part of the nosy people who does nothing aside from gossiping all day. What a shame, indeed.
I have been living my life independently for more than ten years now, well ever since my mom decided to send me to an orphanage. Looking back, I can't imagine how painful it was for me to be abandoned by my mother. But now, every time that thought crosses my mind I feel unmoved, as if I can't feel anything at all. Maybe the pain I've been keeping for years has finally subsided.
Back to reality, I'm finally done packing all my stuffs. I don't need to bring all of my things in my new apartment because I'll be moving out anyways. I can't stay at one place for a long time because its dangerous. Woody, my canine dog jumped at me as I sat on the wooden chair and I took a deep breath. Everything will be okay, Raven. At least, as for now. I gave myself an assurance. Just as I was about to stand, a small card in the desk caught my attention. It was my fake identification card. The name states Jordan Campbell. I guess I should be living as Jordan Campbell right now. I'm sick and tired of changing my identities and attitude every time I move into a new place. But since it's a part of my job, I must deal with it.
I grabbed the folder in my desk and read the information the client gave me.
Name: Peterson Matthews
Age: 32
Infomation: The COO of Wild West Bank
Client's reason for assasination: Corrupt leader and a ruthless boss
The information stated came from someone with the name of White. I don't even know when will people start thinking of a good naming convention. Since when did colors became a good codename? It's the silliest name I've ever heard. Oh well, some things meant to stay confidential after all. She is believed to be one of the employees of the Wild West Bank. I prepared my gun case and my very own set of bullets. This is gonna be easy. I smirked as a thought crosses my mind.
I started to hear weird noises outside my door, in the apartment's hallway to be exact. I'm not a nosy person but curiosity got into me and I walked near to my door.
"What do you mean by we're done?" The girl complained.
"I'm breaking up with you, Kate" The other voice answered.
I peeped into the peeping hole in my apartment door just to see a blonde girl wearing short skirt kneeling in front of a guy, pleading him not to break up with her. I never thought that girls can be desperate just to win their man back. Good thing, I don't get myself involved with drama and relationships. I'm used to being all alone, well at least I have my dog with me. So I don't feel alone. I shook my head after getting tired of watching the drama outside. Then a few seconds had passed, I heard the door slammed next door.
. . . . . . . .
Parker
I went back to the police station after getting the important files in my apartment. I wasn't expecting to see Kate outside my apartment, the nerve of that girl. I don't know why she can't seem to face the truth that we're done. Isn't it hard to understand that I'm just not into her anymore? It's just so hard to understand girls. That's why I don't want to get myself involved with someone. I don't want to commit myself to anyone. They'll only serve as a distraction to my job.
"Hey Mr. Heartbreaker, I have heard you have finally dumped that Kate chick" Walter tapped me on my shoulder.
"What else can I expect from my nosy pal?" A smirk formed into my lips. Why can't I even hide something from this guy? I don't even know how he manage to get his sources.
"Well, can I ask why you dumped her in the first place? Don't you even know what you're wasting?" He asked in disbelief.
"If you actually think, she is a big waste then be her boyfriend" I answered, without even looking at him. My eyes are fixed on the files in my desk. It is a compilation of the cases of the notorious Raven. We've been looking for her for a long time now, yet we don't have a lead about where she is. According to the evidences, she is a hired killer. Some people are willing to give her a fortune just to get rid of someone without getting their hands dirty.
"Oh I would, pal" He said and he went closer to me to check on the files I'm reading.
"Still no lead?" He asked and I nodded in response.
"Wow, that Raven must be something" He answered.
"I know" I agreed.
But it won't be for long, I'm sure I'll be able to catch this criminal one of these days. And when that happens, I will never let her escape. A thought entered my mind.
"That bitch is such a pain in the ass" He commented.
"Yes, indeed. That's why we need to end her criminal ways and put her into jail" I answered. But there is no certainty that we can even catch her. I know that, for sure. A murderer would rather get herself killed than end up in jail.
"I can't believe she's willing to kill for money" He added while staring at the picture of Raven. Based on the files, she eventually would change her looks so no one would even suspect her for being a murderer herself.
"She doesn't know that she's wasting her whole life for her job" I said as if I'm feeling pity for her, for placing her life in jeopardy and living against the law.
