I shut the door behind me and take off my snow boots. It was spring in Washington and we had snow. "Mom I'm home!" I say hanging my coat on the rack. My mom came running to me and she hugs me. "Happy Birthday Ave Rose!" I embrace her. "Thank you mom." I smile.

"I made you your favorite blueberry pancakes while you were out on your morning hike. Lets go get some before your dad eats them all." She says taking me to the kitchen. My dad was up getting coffee. He was tall, above average kind of tall and he had tan skin with black hair and blue eyes. "Hey Hun. What's it like to be 18?" My dad says giving me an awkward side hug and rubbing his knuckles into my head, messing up my hair. "I feel the same as yesterday." I say escaping.

I grab a plate of pancakes and sit at the table. "So you want some Orange juice, Ave?" My dad asked bringing me a glass of Orange juice because he knew I'd say yes. We all sit at the table and eat our breakfast. "Thank you mom, for the great meal." I said putting my plate in the sink. "You're welcome." She replied.

I sit back down at the table to finish my juice. "So are you thinking about college because you do know you graduate next month?" My dad asks. "Yeah I think I'm going to do online classes because School is so expensive." I say. "Well that would be fine. Do what you think is best for you." Dad said. My mom chimed in. "Yeah You do you." We all looked at her and laughed. My mom was so sweet. She had light blonde hair with very pale skin, even though she like lived outside. She always made sure me and dad were happy.

Later that evening my grandparents and my aunt and uncle all came over. "Where's is that young lady?" My grandma says walking in the door. "I have got her a present!!" She comes in and hugs tight. My aunt and uncle follow in right behind her. We all sit around the table and they begin singing Happy Birthday. "Make a wish!" They all say and I blew out the candles. I never really wished for anything because I was always happy with what I already had.

"So. Open my present first Ave!" My grandma says with excitement. She hands me the gift. I unwrap it. "IT'S A CAMERA!" I says loudly. "Yeah! Now when you travel the world you can make your scrape book like you told me you would when you were a little kid." My grandma says smiling. I get up and hug her. "This is a really nice camera. How did you know to get this one?" I asked. "Well I do know a thing or two about cameras." She says. "Ave, don't forget you have other presents too." My aunt Kaylee says. I open the gift from my aunt. "Ooo. A rose quarts bracelet." I slipped it onto my wrist. It was a beautiful light pink. "Thank you Aunt Kaylee and uncle Hayden." I say giving them both hugs.

"Now best for last!" My mom says. "This is from me and your dad." It was a huge box. I unwrapped it and open the Box. There was a cell phone and a laptop. I pulled them out. "Aww guys! Thank you!!" I said hugging my dad and then my mom. "Well we thought since you are older you can have a phone and you need a laptop for school whether or not you do online classes or not." They said. We went on to eat dinner and cake.
