High School Love

Chapter one

Beep beep beep

My alarm goes off and I wake up. I turn it off and roll back over in my bed. Why does school have to be so early. Why can't it be like in the afternoon.

I get out of bed and take a shower. I come out and go to my big walk in closet. Since my mom works in Florida for this big company she's never home so she made me a really big closet  because she thinks I'm a girly girl. I don't even wear 75% of what in here.

I look around my closet and decide on wearing a dark pair of jeans, a white t-shirt, my brown riding boots, and my brown leather jacket. I blow dry my hair and do my makeup. I only put some mascara and lipgloss on and I go down stairs.

  I look at my phone and I have a message.

Meagan: Hey, I'm coming to pick you up today since you drove me around all summer :) so be ready at 7:30!!

I look at the time. It's 7:10 I can eat breakfast. I hurry and make a bowl of cereal. I'm done eating by 7:25 and I rush back upstairs and brush my teeth and get my bag ready.

I hear a honk outside and I look out my window and I see Meagan in her Black Volkswagen Beetle. Meagan had wrecked her old car so until her parents got it fixed she was stuck driving a punch buggy.

I wave at her and grab my bag and run down stairs. I open the door and close it quietly hoping that I didn't wake my dad up.

I hop in the the front seat and smile at Meagan.

  "Are you ready for the first day of senior year!?"

  "Of course I am Meagan why wouldn't I be!" Adding sarcasm in there.

  She just gives me a fuck you look and starts driving. It takes us about 10 minutes to get to the school from my house. We pulled up and a couple kids are staring at her car. I get out of the car and look at them.

  I may not be popular but kids don't mess with me. I don't know what I did but it's been like this since seventh grade when I stopped being friends with Daniel Hunt and Lucas Reed.

  Daniel has jet black hair and the prettiest blue eyes you've ever seen. Yeah it's weird for someone to have black hair and blue eyes but it looks normal on him. He's the star quarterback for football and the star pitcher for the baseball team. He's also the Captain of the basketball team.

  Lucas has blonde hair and brown eyes.  He plays basketball and he loves music, reading, and writing. I still talk to Lucas sometimes because we both like books.

  Daniel, Lucas, and I had been the best friends you wanted to be. We had been friends for as long as I can remember and we were inseparable. But then Daniel and Lucas had a fight and they stopped being friends and I couldn't pick one of them so I choose neither of them.

  The kids looked at me getting out of the car and kept walking.

  "Come on Meagan lets go inside and start our first day of hell."

  "Yay for us."

Lunch

  The first hours of hell were over.

  I walked into the cafeteria and got my food and sat down at the same table my small amount of friends have been sitting at for the past four years.

  Meagan say down and slowly all our other friends came too.

  "Have you guys seen today's gossip paper!!"

  "No let me see it!"

  "Oh my gosh you have to see this McKenzie!"

  "Fine hand it to me."

   Right there on the front page had been a picture of Daniel, Lucas, and I when we were younger. How'd they get this. I looked at the title.

She's secretly sleeping with both of them

  What the fuck.... I haven't spoken to them in like four years.

  I look up and I realize I said it out loud. Well it's true.

  I look up and see Daniel staring at me. He mouthed 'did you know about this' and I mouthed back 'no' we both looked for Lucas but I knew where he would be. I motioned for Daniel to follow and he did.

  "Where's Lucas?" 

  I turned around to face Daniel. I stared at him because this is the first time we've actually talked since seventh grade.

  "He's in the library. He's studying. Yeah I know it's the first day of school but he worries like that."

  He nodded and we walked to the library. When we walked in Lucas was sitting in a chair reading a book. We walked over to the table and he looked up.

  "Oh hey guys didn't expect to see you two here."

  As he says that he only looks at me. Why would he be looking just at me.

  "Lucas did you know about this?" Daniel asked taking the school paper and putting it in the table. Lucas looked at it stunned.

  "N-No I had no idea...... Damn how'd they get this picture of us?"

  "That's what Daniel and I said. But we thought you'd know. I mean yeah we know Taylor did it but we wanted to know if you knew about it already."

  "Nope I had no idea.... Maybe that explains everyone looking at me funny in first hour. I thought it was because I was late."

  Daniel sat down at the table and a couple seconds later I did too. I missed us being friends but you could tell there was something going on between Daniel and Lucas just by the way they looked at each other.

  I never knew what the fight was about and I don't want to ask because you can clearly see there's still tension between them.

  They were staring at me. Shit did I say that out loud.

  "What are you two looking at?"

  They both looked embarrassed and looked away.

  "Oh sorry McKenzie didn't mean to stare, um I gotta go see you later bye." Lucas says as he gets up and leaves the library.

  "What was that about?" I asked.

  "Oh it was nothing..... Well gotta go see you later Kenzie."

  He hasn't called me Kenzie in forever.

  He left the library too and I was alone at the table.

  I got up and left the library too after awhile and I went back to the cafeteria. On my way back I saw Daniel and Lucas talking. I tired to listen but I only got a piece of what one of them said.

  "We agreed not to tell her what happened between us okay. No matter what happens we don't tell her."

  I kept walking not wanting to hear the rest. But what really happened between Daniel and Lucas they didn't want me to know but I was gonna find out.
