Chapter 5: I Take "Dog Person" To A Whole New Level

Start from the beginning

"YOU WERE GONE ALL THIS TIME AND HE NEEDED A REAL FAMILY MEMBER!! NOW, WHEN HE'S TERRIFIED AND SUFFERING, YOU DON'T HELP HIM?! BULLSHIT!!"

I continued screaming at him.

He glanced over at his younger brother as if my words had sunk in. Then, he incredulously asked me,

"Why do you seem to know so much about him? He's like a ticking time bomb-"

"FUCK YOU!! PEOPLE CHANGE, YOU HUGE PILE OF SHIT!! MY DAD LEFT US AFTER SPEWING FORTH A STRING OF TRANSPHOBIC INSULTS TOWARDS ME, AND I DON'T WANT YOU BREAKING MEMORY LIKE MY FATHER BROKE ME!! SO HELP HIM OUT, YOU FUCKTARD!!"

I interrupted.

Triumph blinked a couple times, then turned and kneeled beside Memory. After a moment of silence, he cleared his throat and touched Memory's hair shakily.

My mom released me and I kept my distance. However, I still watched Triumph with wary distrust. I no longer regarded him with respect. He would need to try a lot harder to regain my respect and at any sign of neglect, I would kill Triumph. For real.

Triumph began murmuring to Memory, whose breaths had become hyperventilation from how panicked he was, and slowly...I noticed Memory's body begin to change.

He curled up into a small ball for a short moment, the screams becoming soft whimpers. Then his body twisted unnaturally and within a minute, Memory was no longer Memory.

Because Memory had become a wolf.

-----------------------

The crushing agony finally stopped and I lay still on my side, trying to stop myself from shuddering. I had been vaguely aware of Distance's enraged screaming and Triumph trying to reassure me through the pain, but I couldn't make out any words.

Now, Triumph watched me with concern. He was completely different from the distant, icy person he had seemed to be a few minutes ago.

I rolled onto my stomach and glanced at my brother, who murmured,

"Feeling better?"

I didn't say anything, as I needed a moment to recover from the shock. He sighed, standing up, and backed away from me.

"Well, stay calm. You've changed a lot but you're still Memory."

"The hell are you saying?"

I asked.

I glanced to the awestruck faces of Distance and Shark and knew that something had definitely happened to me. To my body. I was going to sit up, but when I attempted to sit up as I normally would, my body wouldn't move in that manner. Glancing down at my hands, I felt a jolt of panic.

My hands were the white paws of a wolf.

I shot up on all fours and staggered backwards, shaking my head frantically.

"Change me back!"

"I can't-"

"Well how'd I end up like this?!"

"You need to calm down. The first transformation is always unstable-gnzjsklzz"

As my heart raced, his voice deteriorated into a random buzz of indistinguishable sounds. My mind slowly faded away. Who was Memory? Why were these humans here? The one closest to me was big and had an odd scent. I wouldn't attack him, but...

The other two humans had the scent of the creatures who had become like elves. Less threatening than the male seemingly yelping at me. His face grew oddly confused and he said a word.
