Mitch walked into his shared apartment, tired and worn down from the busy week. Friday had finally come around and he wanted to do nothing more than spend it on the couch with a snack of some sort and a glass of wine in his hand. He knew that his best friend, Scott would most likely want to hit the city with a few friends and party. This was usually the case every Friday and he was not going to give in to his pleading this time.
"Mitch?" Scott yelled from his bedroom when Mitch closed the front door. He laid his bag down on the couch and walked to the blonde's bedroom. "Yeah?" Scott was propped up in his bed with a laptop on top of him. "Tyler called and ask-". Mitch cut him off. "No, I am not going out tonight. Don't ask me again because I swear to god, I will murder you." Scott looked taken aback.
"How did you know I was going to say anything about going out again? I could have said he wanted to know what to call his new pet or something along those lines." Mitch gave him a look that told him that he didn't believe a word he was saying. "If Tyler called and asked something, he would have asked about alcohol or which club payed the best music. I can discuss one of those topics tonight but the other is off limits around my presence." He turned and traveled to the kitchen to get something to eat. He hadn't eaten anything since Scott made breakfast earlier in the day and he was so hungry he could eat a small child.
Mitch opened the refrigerator and grabbed some stuff to make a sandwich. Or two. Scott walked into the kitchen and sat at the granite counter. "What's wrong with you today? You usually always want to go out." Mitch put bread in the toaster and looked at him. "Correction. I usually agree to go out with you. I don't necessarily want to, but I want everyone else to have fun so I say yes. Tonight, I want to watch movies and Netflix and go to bed early because I am exhausted." The bread popped up and he grabbed it, starting to spread mustard on it.
Scott leaned over and grabbed an apple. "What movie?"
"You don't have to stay home. Go out with Tyler and have fun." Mitch said over his shoulder.
"I didn't really even want to go anyways. I'd rather stay at home with my best bitch. So, what movie?"
Mitch turned around and grinned. "Well I was going to watch Spirited Away again but now we can both agree on something." He finished making his sandwich and put the leftover food back in its designated area. Scott walked to the couch and he followed, sitting on the opposite side. "We can watch whatever you want to watch. After all, you were planning to do this by yourself. Who am I to ruin your plans?" Scott said as he put Spirited Away into the DVD player.
The two boys watched the movie along with several others. As the credits rolled on Interstellar, Scott stood up and poured two glasses of wine and brought them into the living room. Mitch took his and smiled at Scott as he sat back down on the sofa. He picked Scott's phone up and looked at the time as he took a sip. "How did it get to be so late? We started at like 6:40." Mitch put the older man's phone back down on the table in front of them. Scott covered himself up with a blanket, shivering as he did so due to the air conditioning being on. "What time is it?"
"1:07 am. Give me some of that. I'm freezing." He grabbed the blanket and tried to cover himself up also but pulling some off of Scott in the process. "Go get your own, bastard." Mitch smiled. "Never mind. I don't want to get up."
"So you would rather be cold than get up and walk 6 feet to your room?"
"Yep."
Scott scoffed. "You want a blanket from me but when I tell you to get one yourself, you don't want it anymore. You really are lazy." He moved closer towards Mitch on the couch so they could both share the blanket comfortably. Mitch looked at Scott and smiled. "You encourage it."
"Only because I love you." Scott pulled Netflix up on their TV and went to recently played, clicking on Family Guy. "Please and thank you." Mitch muttered under his breath as the theme song started playing. Scott smiled at his comment.
Throughout the next few episodes, both of the boys had multiple glasses of wine. Scott started to get up to get another refill but Mitch grabbed his hand and pulled him back down on the couch. "Stay and keep me warm." His words slurred together. Scott chuckled. "Wow, is Mitchell Coby Michael Grassi actually saying no to wine?" He sat back down next to Mitch and put his arm around him.
Mitch scowled. "Two things. One, I'm not an alcoholic. Or at least not all the time. And two, don't call me that." Scott smiled at him. "Why not? I love your name."
"Because I told you not to. That's why."
Scott shut the TV off and pulled the blanket tighter around them, feeling the alcohol's impact on his body. "Someone's bossy." Mitch moved closer to Scott and put his head on his arm. "Well, someone has to establish dominance in this friendship and I just like to break stereotypes."
"And what stereotype would that be?"
"That the jocky, muscular guy is the one who is in charge. We all know who the bitch is in this relationship." Mitch smirked and Scott pulled back in surprise. "Are you serious? I am not your bitch. If anything, you're mine."
Mitch closed his eyes. "Whatever. I'll let you believe that only because I'm exhausted and don't want to argue." His words slurred together. "Can we go to bed?"
"Of course." Scott stood up and picked the smaller boy up and carried him to his room. He laid Mitch on the bed and covered him up. He was about to shut the lamp off and leave the room when Mitch spoke.
"Can you stay in here tonight? I'm cold." Scott smiled at his best friend. "Yeah, let me turn the lights off in the kitchen and living room."
Scott went to his room and changed into sweatpants and a black t-shirt and shut everything off on his way to Mitch's room. "I'm back." He walked in and laid down on the opposite side of Mitch. "Good."
Scott scooted closer to Mitch and pulled the blanket over the both of them. "You should get up and get your own blanket." Mitch whispered as he fell asleep. Scott laughed quietly and closed his eyes. "Goodnight."
