The Letter

Chapter 1
Cassiopeia's POV.

It was the middle of summer in England.I had gone to Jasmine's house for a swim with her and Maya.Jasmine wasn't there yet,her and her mother went shopping for new clothes for the school year,so they left they key under the welcome mat and I welcomed myself in.They would pick up Maya and then we'd be free to swim.My friend,Jasmine,had short blonde hair and brown eyes,also quite a small nose.Maya,on the other hand,had long,straight blonde hair with some brown here and there with green eyes.I heard Mrs.Crane's mini van pull into the driveway and I sped up the stairs to Jasmine's room to change into my bathing suit.As I opened the door,the front one opened.I thought it was,'When one door closes,another opens.'.

"Cassie?"Mrs.Crane asked.

"Yes?"I replied slipping on my bathing suit bottoms that looked like boy shorts.

"She's up there,"I heard the pad of feet and saw Maya and Jasmine appear at my door.They slip in and pull theirs on.I had brought a black one,Jasmine brought a rainbow bikini,and Maya brought a light blue one with white stripes.Being my worried self,I put sunscreen on.

"Seriously?"Maya said,"Sunscreen?"She had very little trouble with Sun burns.

"Yes,"I replied rubbing it on my arms,"Seriously.Hey,Jazzy?Could you get this on my back?"

Jasmine grabbed my sunscreen,put some on her hands,and put some on my back.

"There you go,"she said,stepping away.

"Thanks."

We ran downstairs and outside.Maya jumped right into the pool just to explode above the surfer to be doggy paddling back over.When she crawled out and pointed to the water she chartered,"Cold!Way too cold!"

I laughed,"Duh!You gotta get used to it and ease yourself in."

Showng an example,I put one foot in,then another,then I stepped down a story,then another...
Soon I was at the bottom step.I took a deep breath and stepped down.Water and cold exploded on both sides of me and being short meant only my head peaked up out of the 5 and 1/2 inch deep pool.I resurfaced and turned around.

"See?I'm fine.Just gotta get used to it,"I shrugged.Jasmine followed suit of Maya and jumped in.She didn't get out though,Jasmine was more tolerable of the cold.Maya had finally got in and was good with the temperature of the water.

*3 hours later*

I laughed and got out,"I should go,guys."

They frowned,"So early?"

"You know I have dinner early,"I shrugged and frowned too,"Bye,guys!"I waved,grabbed my bag,and ran for my house.I noticed a barn owl in the sky and smiled.It was beautiful.

When I finally reached home and walked in,I had dried.The smell of chicken came from the kitchen and I licked my lips.

"I'm home,Mum!"I yelled through the house as I walked to my room.

"Oh,hey,honey!"she replied,"We're having chicken and scalloped potatoes for dinner."

"Is it my birthday?"I asked,as I reached my door.

"It's something like that."

I smiled and quickly picked out a band t for Twenty One Pilots and some yogo pants.I also grabbed my string bracelet that was made with rough,brown string.It had been my older cousins.She gave it to me before she disappeared 2 years ago.I walked to my bathroom to take a shower.

*After shower*

I slipped the band t,yogo pants,and string bracelet on before I walked to the kitchen.The table was set and my glass was filled with water,Mum had wine and Dad had beer.A load of scalloped potatoes were in a bowl in the middle of the table.We haven't had such a big dinner since I turned 11 2 weeks ago.

"Hey,sweetie,"Dad said behind me.

"Hey,Dad.What's with the food?"

"Can me and your mother do something nice for our Angel once in a while?"he asked sitting down.I sat down with him as we waiting for Mum to come down from washing up.After a few minutes her seat was filled and we ate.A few minutes in Dad broke the silence.

"A letter came in the mail for you."

Mum looked up at him quickly,grief filled her face.

"Oh,really?"I asked,putting more chicken in my mouth,"Where?"

"Here,"Dad handed it to me and looked at Mum.

I read the address.Hogwarts School.

I've never heard of that.I opened it and some parchment fell out.It read:

Dear Cassiopeia Winches,
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry would be glad to inform you you have been excepted.You return to school the first of September.Your needed books are at the bottom.Students get to choose a pet between an owl,cat or toad.The Hogwarts Express leaves at 11:00 am sharp.We are at platform 9 3/4.Hope to see you in September!

"Haha,"I held it up,"Nice try,guys."

"No,honey,"Mum put her hand over mine,"It's all true.We've already gotten your books and your animal.It's a cat by the way."

"Where is it?"I asked eagerly.Dad left the table and came back later with a Russian blue cat.

I took it in my arms,"Boy or girl?"

"It's a girl."

"I know she's a girl,but what about Crowley?Like after that song by Ozzy Osbourne?"

Dad smiled,"Great choice."
Mum chuckled slightly.

"Wait!"through all the happiness something struck me,"What about Jasmine and Maya?"

"Oh,you may still write to them.Just don't expose where you are."

I nodded,"Who delivered this?"

"A barn owl,"Dad answered,"In their world they use owls."

I nodded again.I couldn't wait for the end of August!
