Chapter 09 (Part Three)

“

I don't really care. We're legally adults, they can't do anything anyway.” Justin's voice got quiet, before he cleared his throat and forced a smile. “But, hey, I'm here to spend time with my best friend and his...weird other friends, so stop being depressing!”

Nathan hesitated, then shook his head and sighed, a small smile making it's way onto his face. “You're ridiculous.” he said.

Justin snorted. “So? You know you love me. And so does Varian, apparently.”

“

I wouldn't go as far as 'love'. I'd say 'tolerates with a minor attachment'.”

“

Eh, I'll take what I can get.”

After eating, they all headed back to campus in Skyler's car, which was the one they'd taken. It was sort of a tight fit, with Skyler in the back between Vince and Justin, and Thomas upfront with Nathan driving, thanks to his odd car-sickness thing. He was really hoping that would go away over the years.

Now Nathan was walking Justin back to his car, talking about the previous event.

-And Vince is hilarious, I can see why Varian would assume we were related.”

“

Yeah, he's like an intelligent version of you.” Nathan commented. Justin glared, crossing his arms over his chest.

“

Oh, you're hilarious,” he mumbled. Nathan smiled in return, making Justin sigh and roll his eyes dramatically. “What am I going to do with you?”

“

Gee, I don't know.” Nathan replied with a shrug. Justin snorted, stopping at his car and hesitating, turning back to Nathan.

“

Look, if you call 'Drea later, just...don't say anything about it, okay? She's still a little- well, a lot, pissed off over it. Just call her and tell her what she wants to know.” Justin said. Nathan nodded.

“

Alright. I can do that, I guess.”

“

Good.” Justin paused, then frowned. “Are you ever...mad or anything that you didn't get to meet your real dad?”

Mad? Over not meeting Daniel? No, Nathan wasn't mad. He wasn't sure how he felt about it, to be honest.

“

No,” he decided, “I'm not. I don't mind it. As far as that goes, Eric is my father, not Daniel.”
