Chapter 09 (Part Two)

Operating on instinct, Varian shoved him back and grabbed his jaw, holding him in place before pressing the tips of his fangs to Evan's neck, exactly where he'd bitten him the first time. He would have just gone for it, like Evan had, but he'd been trained to ask. So he did.

"Please?"

A hand came up to grab the back of his neck and shoved him down so his fangs jabbed into his flesh. Varian took that as an okay and bit hard, harder than he'd ever bitten anyone before, even Nathan that last time, but was careful as he did it.

Evan gasped and tensed beneath him, but held still as the blood welled up into Varian's mouth. He was expecting the salty metallic taste, or the bitter rotten one, but what he got was actually sweet. It surprised him so much, he went to pull away, but that hand held firm.

Sighing, he took what he needed, carefully licking the puncture site.

"You didn't have to clean up after yourself, it would have healed anyway." Evan spoke up as soon as Varian sat back.

"Habit," he answered. "Thank you though."

Evan pushed him back and sat up as well, shrugging. "Anytime. But damn, you sure do know how to bite. My God, I'd forgotten how good at it you are."

Grabbing his pillow, Varian shoved it at Evan. "Shut up."

Hey Justin.”

Oh! Oh, now you wanna call me! Mr. Big College-Attending Vampire wants to call his best friend! Well you know what, I can't talk! I'm busy!”

No you're not.”

I know...”

Nathan laughed at Justin's comment, shaking his head. It was Friday, and he was outside, leaning against his car. Once he was done talking to Justin, he was once again heading down to Mandan. He rather liked being able to go down there so often this year.

So, what did you want, asshole?” Justin asked.

Just figured I'd call and see how my best friend is. You know, considering everything going on.”
