Chapter 09 (Part Two)

Nathan smiled a little. “Just curious. Alright look, I gotta go, okay? I'm heading down to Varian's.”

Shocker. I better fucking see you this weekend, or I will hunt you down on campus.”

Nathan winced, because he knew Justin would. And he'd be very obnoxious about it, too. “Yeah, yeah, fine. Tell Andrea I said hi, and I'll see you guys soon.”

Good. Later, bitch.”

You mother-” Nathan's retort was cut off as Justin hung up on him, making him roll his eyes. “Fucker,” he finished quietly. With a sigh, he put his phone away, getting into his car.

Nathan saw Varian's house come into view, smiling as he slowed down a bit. It wasn't unusual for him to speed on his way down, sadly.

Pulling up to the house, Nathan could see Varian and Evan sitting outside in the grass by the pasture, watching the driveway expectantly. He had no doubt they'd been talking beforehand. Evan had on a red shirt, with black pants and those red sneakers he'd worn before.

Nathan turned the car off, sitting still for a moment.

He'd managed to forget the Jecklynn thing for most of the week, but talking to Justin had him irritated all over again. He ignored it though, squishing the feeling down as he got out of the car and walked over to the two, standing beside them.

You weren't kidding about being here more often,” Varian commented, smiling at Nathan. Evan rolled his eyes and nudged Varian with his elbow.

“What Mr. Mopeypants means to say is: 'thank God you're here, Evan won't leave me the fuck alone'.”

Nathan smiled, looking at Varian with a raised eyebrow. “'Mr. Mopeypants', huh?”

“Ignore the diva, he doesn't know what he's talking about,” Varian said matter-of-factly. Evan gave him an incredulous look.

He's pathetic, really. He asked me to come over,” he said. Nathan only sighed quietly, shaking his head as he chose not to respond. Varian shrugged, and Evan smirked at him before turning his attention to Nathan. “You ask Ace about Christmas?”

Nathan smiled again, nodding. “Yeah, I did. Very interesting story.”

Told you,” Evan said smugly, crossing his arms over his chest in satisfaction before looking past Nathan and leaning over a little to see better, arching an eyebrow. “Ah. That makes so much sense now. Hey bitch, you're a liar!”
