Why do the people you consider friends, always replace you? Betray you? Leave you. It isn't fair is it? No it isn't. But it's fine. There will always be others right? Of course there will. But then again, there are always some people you can't seem to forget about. Perhaps a childhood friend? Or a bully that never stopped hurting you. Physically and emotionally? Yes. There's always that one person. But memories slowly fade away don't they? Okay that's a lie. Well memories that aren't important to you may fade, but some just don't seem to leave your mind. No matter how hard you try.
Sumo laid in his bed, thinking about the reunion he had with a certain friend a while back. Can I even call him that any more? He sighed and stared at the plain ceiling.
Why does he even care? Cooter and that other guy...Sea Bass? What kind of name even is that..? He was pretty much Sumo's replacement.
He remembers the feeling of being pushed by said male and landing into a tree. The thought itself hurt. For two reasons. The first because of the fairly large bruise he got from landing on a hard surface like that. Second because Cooter didn't even do anything. He could have at least said something. But he couldn't really blame him. They weren't friends any more.
And that's all because of Sea Bass. If he never joined the school, he wouldn't have taken Sumo's best friend. What did Cooter see in him anyway? Sure he was cool back in the day, but he was bad! He dropped out of school and even managed to convince Cooter to join him in doing so.. leaving Sumo alone until Clarence came around when they were around the age of 8 and 9.
Now they were older though. 14 to be exact. And this happened years ago, but he still can't get the memory out of his head. He's seen the two bullies around town rarely. Maybe something like once every 3 months?
But still, every time he caught the smallest glimpse of them, he would avoid eye contact and walk away so they wouldn't start a fight. But he couldn't help feeling three things. Fear, hatred and regret. Fear because he knew they could both kill him if they worked together. Hatred because he indeed hated them. To be specific, Sea Bass because he caused all of this. Cooter because he was so gullible and quick to leave Sumo. Regret because he should have done something as soon as he noticed Cooter acting differently. He should have tried to talk him out of quitting school, talk him out of leaving everything behind. And now it's too late. If only he could just go back in time. Just once. He would have the courage he never had as a child.
"Sumo! Dinner's ready, come eat!" Sumo's younger sister cheered as she peeked her half shaved head into the room joyfully.
"Huh? Oh. Yeah, coming..." He murmured. She noticed his tone of voice and stared at him confused for a second before deciding to leave him be and skip away. Sumo pulled himself out of bed and slowly made his way to the dining room.
