chapter 1 - your majesty

"If I'm not mistaken, this is my seat."

Killian looked up, only to meet the piercing gaze of a certain blonde.

"Oh is it, love? I hadn't noticed." He smirked before standing up and bowing towards her, mockingly, then sitting straight back down. "Thanks for letting me use it, your majesty." She looked at him with disbelief.

This girl may be one of the most intriguing he had ever come across, but that did not mean she could just walk all over him. High school was a vicious place and he had a reputation to uphold.

She didn't look at all amused, until suddenly a sweet smile grew on her lips. "You're welcome, love."

There was something almost sinister about the way she said it before turning away and making sure the tip of her ponytail brushed his nose. Something sinister, but it made the curiosity inside him grow even stronger. This girl wasn't like all the others at school, she was something else entirely.

"Who was that?" Killian asked the boy sitting next to him, his trusty sidekick, William Smee. He seemed to know everything about everyone.

"Emma Swan," Smee replied in a quiet voice, looking around carefully to make sure nobody else overheard their conversation. "She only moved to Storybrooke a few months ago. Nobody knows a thing about her. She's a mystery."

Killian gazed across the cafeteria, eyes landing on the Swan girl. She had her arms crossed as she leant on the back wall, watching everyone and chewing gum. Their eyes met briefly, before she gave him a small smirk. He blinked and she was gone, as if she was never there to begin with. He slumped back into his seat, confused and astounded. Any other girl would have made their way over to him, but not Emma Swan. She was someone he knew he shouldn't mess with, but he just couldn't help himself.

"I'm going to get her," he said determinedly, his gaze still fixed upon the door she exited from.

"A-are you sure that's a good idea, Hook?" Smee was wringing his red beanie in his hands. Killian clapped him on the back and stood up.

"Of course I am, Smee. And as you know, what I want – I get." He made his way to the hallway, hoping to catch up with the girl, Emma Swan. He couldn't see her but he did manage to catch the slightest glimpse of blonde rounding the corner. The stares down that hall told him all he needed to know.

He made his way around the same corner, only to find himself gazing after a quick smudge of red leather. It was like she knew he was following her, as if she was playing a game – toying with him. Killian's pace quickened, only to find his luck was not getting any better. Swan had taken up residence in the bathroom.

Why it was the male bathroom, he did not know. But he did intend to find out.
