As I sat at my desk at work, a client comes in and takes a seat like any other day, until something strange happened. My best friend quit her job and I was living with her. I was worried, but hey she hated that trash heep anyways. She'll find a better job. As days passed, I noticed my hair starting to fall out. But why and how? Is it something serious?
"Kara, can you come here for a second," I called out.
"What's up?" She replied.
"My hair is falling out and I'm nervous to find out what is going on," I said shakily as tears started to fill my eyes.
"Let's go to the doctors and find out." We walked out of the house and got in the beat up Chevy Impala. Kara had to drive because I was a nervous wreck. We pulled up to the hospital because it was the only way to be seen without an appointment. When the doctor came out and took me and Kara back, my heart dropped. I saw people with no hair with IVs and tubes.
"Kara what if I have - cancer," I said on the verge of tears.
"You'll be fine Jessalyn," she reassured. The doctor does a cat scan and doesn't find anything wrong. He runs more tests and still doesn't find anything. Finally he does one last test, the cancer test. I was on the verge of tears when I got the results back.
"Well Jessalyn, it appears you do not have cancer," said Dr. Matthew smiling but still confused. He couldn't figure out why I was losing hair. I wasn't sick, but still clumps of hair were falling out rapidly. Dr. Matthew sent me home and I grabbed a bandana and tied it around my head firmly. It was a pretty purple one wit black flowers and patterns. As I sat at my desk, a client frantically ran into my office and demanded I hold her hands. After our session, she sighed a sigh of relief and walked calmly out the door with a smile on her face.
"Thanks Jessalyn," she called back. "You're a life saver!" I felt accomplished and went to do my other duties in my office for the rest of the day.
