If at once, I must remember,
T'was a cold night in December,
I watched the faint glow of ember,
Sitting, aching, waiting.
After what was a few hours' past,
My patience did no longer last,
My happiness ran out quite fast
Because you kept me waiting.
For months I kept my head down low,
As you would come and you would go
Out of my life, because you know
I would be there, waiting.
A couple years have passed since then,
And on my face, I wear a grin,
I feel as if I'm in heaven,
I am no longer waiting.
