The bright light shined through my pastel blue curtains, I rolled to my side looking at my clock .
"10:30?" Then it came to me why I slept in so late, one word, Finals.
I changed out of my polka dot pajama pants and my white t shirt, into a pair of light skinny jeans and my favorite flannel and a pair of converse. I then walked down stairs to see my older brother Jake cleaning up after breakfast.
"You know breakfast was an hour ago,"
I nodded in response.
"But I saved you some."
"Thanks" I replied and gave him a quick hug while grabbing the plate out of his hands and sitting down. I shoved the breakfast in my mouth eager to start the day.
"Oh and John and Emily are coming over for dinner tonight" Since my mouth was full of food all I did was nod.

John and Emily are my dad's best friends kids Emily's the oldest she's 25 and John is the same age as Jake 20. They always come over once a month to eat dinner with us and today October 20th was the day. Which also means we have to start our autumn chores. Which the chores are basically the same all year long it's just a few of them get switched around for example in the spring we water the plants in the garden and in the fall we rake the leaves. I live on a farm so chores are very important.

"I can rake the leaves if you want little sis." Jake said
"okay thanks but have you seen Catie?" He thought for a second then said
"She's outside in the front with dad probably practicing gymnastics"
"ok thanks" I quickly go in the bathroom brush my teeth then look in the mirror and realized I forgot something so I quickly grab a hair band and braid my hair then put my favorite beanie on.

I then go to the mess room, where all our coats and shoes are, and throw my fleece coat on and go outside and see my sister land her back tuck. While my dad sits on the porch in my mom's old rocking chair watching Catie and every once in awhile looking down at the newspaper. Being the proud sister I am I clap while startling my father.
"I'm sorry dad" I said
"you sleep well sis?" Catie said while smiling "yeah I was studying for an upcoming test last night."
Then looking out at the large yard and dirt road everything was so peaceful. I looked out and saw my favorite place a barn about a quarter mile to the right from the house.
"I'm gonna go take Sunny out on a ride." "That's fine Bridget but remember Emily and John are coming over later and you need to finish the chores"
"yes dad of course!"

I said while giving him a kiss on the cheek and hugging my sister. I walked up to the barn and saw my brother in the field raking the leaves. Once I approached the barn I saw that the paint was chipping and the locks were rusting. The barn was one of those barns that look quite nice from far away but when you get close you see every detail the good and bad.
I open the barn door to see Sunny in her stable eating hay. I approached her quietly making sure not to startle her. Then I put my hand on her mane and gently pet her.
Just before opening the stable door I heard a familiar scream. Then without a moment to waste I drop the keys and run toward the scream.
