Chapter 2- Thoughts

Jason's POV

That girl, at the smoothie place. Something, something about her made me feel strange. I felt as if I knew her, as if I had a connection to her. But I'm Jason McCann. I don't get these types of feelings. But it's different, something I've never felt before. I like it. Jason what are you saying? You're Jason McCann you don't get these feelings. But I don't have these feelings. Yes you do. You know it. No, stop. I don't even know her. But you need her. Jason stop. Don't do it. You don't need her. Yes you do.

Ava's POV

After work I picked up Jax at daycare. It was around 12:30, obviously earlier than usual because I don't normally work until 1:30. I get Jax all situated in his car seat and think about what we should do with the rest of our day.

"Hey Jaxy," I saw looking back at him, "how about some ice cream?" I know how much he loves ice cream. He screams in excitement and approval at my words. "Okay," I coo, "let's go."

We stop at DQ on our way home. We go in because Jax eating ice cream in the car would make such a mess. We walk hand in hand inside, him mumbling his cute made up words the whole way. I just nod and agree with him.

"Okay Jax," I say picking him up, "what do you want?" He waits a seconds thinking what to say. "Mmm," I wait. "Chocwet." He finally managed to say. "Okay," I turn to the lady, "can I just have some chocolate ice cream in a small dish please." "You sure can," she says in a happy tone.

Once I got the ice cream Jax and I went to a corner booth to eat. I grab a spoon and a lot of napkins.

We were in the parking lot headed back to the car when my phone buzzed from my pocket. I pull it out and look,

Message from Derek

Ava, we need to talk. I want to see Jax. And don't even try to tell me I can't, he's my son too. Don't be stupid this time.

I took a deep breath looking around the parking lot. The last time I got a text like this it didn't end well.

*flashback*

I was angry. How could he say he all of the sudden wanted to see Jax? He hadn't been there for me once let alone care about the fact that he has a son, there's no way I'm letting him see him. I respond to his text, "No way, you haven't been there for me or him once, don't think you can come walking back into our lives, just leave." I sent the message, proud of myself mostly because I've been stressing a lot lately about this whole situation.

Message from Derek

Not a good choice Ava. I will see him one way or another, and don't try to get in the way.

About a week later Derek attacked me after work at my car. He hit me several times and even threatened to kill me. He said if I didn't let him see Jax he would kill me and take Jax. He made me drive to my house with a knife to my side the whole time. He made me stay in the car while he went inside to see Jax, who was with a babysitter. The babysitter ran out scared and crying. Once Derek came back out, he said if I told anyone he was going to kill both of us, and said that he would be back. This is the first time I've heard from him since.

How do I even respond to this? I can't let him see Jax and but I can't let him hurt either of us. I'm scared.

Jason's POV

Back at my mansion I sit at the dining table eating supper with my gang. It consists of my friends Chaz, Ryan, Tyler, and my brother Blake. There's obviously more people we're just very spread out, all across the world in fact.

I can't stop thinking about that girl from the smoothie shop. She was so pretty. She'd be perfect. I'm sure all the guys would love her. That's exactly what I take girls for anyway. I kidnap them, and me and my boys just pretty much pass her around until we're tired of her, then usually one of us just kills her. I haven't grabbed a girl in awhile, maybe this is my chance.
