The Vault door was heavy and grinded against one of the Energizers on my leather Shoulder-pad, the sound of metal on metal filled up the underground Anti-Radizer Bunker I installed months before the bombs dropped.

As the Door gave way and light began to peek in I squinted at the light, I had forgotten to put my Anti-Radiation mask on. I jumped down from the doorway and back into the darkness of the vault, the kerosene lamps had all been used up from the months I had been down here. I found the mask and put it on, it was supposed to go with the rest of the Anti-Radiation suit but as I was so excited to see what was left of London in 1871, a year after the bomb had dropped, that I had forgotten to have it on my person when I exposed myself to the outside world. I climbed back to the doorway and peered out.

What I saw will haunt me for the rest of my days.

My townhouse and the houses adjacent had been blown over by the force of the impact of the Nucleo-Destructor machine that one of the enemy Airships had dropped on London.

I stepped onto soil for the first time since I had entered my vault. The Electro pulse gun I held in my hand had come alive with electricity taken in by the energizers, the energizers seemed to be accelerating production of electricity in the radiation. I pulled out the Rad-Test device I had built whilst in isolation and was surprised with the results. It confirmed that I could survive if exposed to  radiation. I took off the helmet and removed my Anti-Radiation suit so as to let my normal clothing free. The leather shoulder-pad was connected to the Generator on my back which also connected to the other energizers on my costume. It was quite a sight, a Trench-coat with a Leather web and small devices pulsating blue light paired with a block of cogs and steam attached to my back. It was obvious that I was an inventor even before the bombs dropped.

I walked over to what used to be my house, no ceiling, waist high walls, bricks and broken glass. It was the same for many blocks and in the distance I saw what was left of Parliament, Big Ben's tower was still standing but the grand old clock had vanished.
