Stuck Between My Arch Enemy and My Best Friend - Chapter One: Impressions

Start from the beginning

"Look who it is," the voice was deep, bouncing around the stone walls of Embory High. In mid conversation, both Jorden and Brook groaned, and desperately attempted to ignore both the voice, and its equally annoying owner. That was a little difficult, as he stepped forward to block their path.

When both Jorden and Brook were forced to skid to a stop, to avoid a massive collision, other kids started to look around to see what was going on. Like flies attracted to a carcass, the hallway went from a reasonable number, to completely packed in seconds.

Hell was about to insure. And they were all making sure they had a good view.

In front of them was a young boy, same age as the two of them, known as Silver tongue, Whip lash, and prick: the last two normally the preferred name for Jorden and Brook. Apparently his mother actually called him Luke. Although, that may just be a rumour.

With blonde hair sticking up at all ends, Brook had to admit Luke was definitely charming. The slight stubble was what catches Jorden's eye, who always gets annoyed the such an arse can get away with completely ignoring rules, especially when it means disrespecting personal presentation. All in all, Luke was a thin looking guy, who appeared as though he desperately needed someone to care of him. Luke would have hundreds of ladies fighting over him... If he would just learnt to keep his mouth firmly closed.

"What the hell do you want?" Jorden growled, as he marched right up into his face.

"Want? Who, me?" Luke pushed Jorden back. "I want absolutely nothing from you, and your ugly girlfriend!"

"We aren't dating," both Brook and Jorden said in illusion.

"Are you joined at the bloody hip cause you enjoy no independence?" luke literally snared at the two. Jorden had his fists balled up, and was physically hurting not to take a swing at the guy.

"Independence? Like what you have? You make stupid decisions everyday. Great demonstrating there."

"You know nothing about the decisions I make," Luke's voice has turned frightening deep. The two guys stood staring at each other. For years, the two had been on the verge of ripping each other's throats out. The only reason it has yet to happen, is because of Brook. The young lady was the ONLY thing that forced the two guys to not kill each other.

Brook reached up, grabbing ahold of Jorden, and pull him away.

"Let's just go," she muttered.

"You should teach your woman not to speak out of turn, mate!" luke called out at their retreating backs. Everyone watching, who had remained eagerly listening, started murmuring at dusty blonde's words. There were more than a few Oooooohs.

"How many times I got to spell this out to you! She ain't my women!" snapped Jorden.

"And can speak whenever the hell I want!" added Brook, glaring at the jerk.

"Wow, she actually stands up to me? Have i upset the little Ranga?!?"

Brook was very logical, very sensible. But it is wise to not upset her. It takes a lot for that to happen, but when it does, she will bring you down. If it is the very last thing she does.

Roles swopped in mare seconds. Suddenly, it was Brook diving for Luke, ready to cause some major physical harm, and Jorden having to pull her back and keep her restrained. Luke laughed, edging the two on.

"Did you seriously just call me, Ranga? I swear to god I-"

"-You'll what, Brooklyn?"

Silence fell in the hallway, as a teacher's voice floated through. All three of them froze, pretending like they totally weren't seconds from a smash down. When nobody, and but that I mean, NOBODY, said anything, the teacher gave up.

"Well, since you clearly aren't doing anything, you had all best be on your way."

That got a response, with practically the whole hallway grumbling and whining about the potential of that fight, and how badly it failed.

Luke chuckled, as he marched past the two friends, slamming his shoulder into Jorden as he pasted. Once the two had broken out of the crowds, Jorden still rubbing his sore shoulder, Brook was the first to speak.

"I hate him!"

"I hate him so much!" Jorden backed up.

"What the hell is his problem? Does he enjoy just pissing people off?!?"

"To be honest, Brook, I have been wondering that since we first met that smirking asshole."

"I don't get it! This school is meant to be all about sophistication. Who the HELL let him in!?!"

"I know!"

"I don't think we will ever get along with that jerk," Brook muttered, and Jorden agreed as they both parted ways to head to their individual classes.

Brooklyn had absolutely no idea that she would be the one to change that....
