Fourteen... (special #2)

Start from the beginning

"ALPHA!"

"Holy moon goddess!" I jumped in surprise.

I saw Peltran, my Beta gasping for breath.

I glared daggers at him, "What the hell?! You don't need to shout."

"Sorry Alpha, "he smiled sheepishly. But then his face darkened, "Alpha, the moon goddess wants to talk to you."

I nodded quietly, this might be something important.

Artemis' POV

When I reached the moonlight gardens, somebody called out, "Artemis!"

I almost groaned but instead, I turned around to face Taliana with a fake smile, "Oh hi! Is there something that you would want from me?"

Why fake? I would honestly tell you, because she's the friend of my sister. My sister's kind, but her friends aren't the ones you could call 'kind'.

She would always bully me, and say I don't deserve to have Ilea as my sister and Orion as my best friend. Well, fine I don't deserve them. I've always been the second when it comes to Ilea in everything. So I'm already used to it.

"Oh I don't need anything from you, you can't give me anything." She answered snobbishly, making me roll my eyes, "But the moon goddess, maybe. She wants to talk to you."

"What about my task for today?"

She pouted, "It was passed to me."

I wanted to laugh at her face, but chose not to. She would scratch my  face and challenge me to a fight, in which I know, I'm not gonna win.

"Oh okay, thanks Taliana." I told her politely.

"Yeah whatever, just go now."

So I left to go to the palace of our mother, the moon goddess. I entered it as the doors swung open and caught me by surprise surprise with the scene in front of me.

"What's happening? Why are the two of you here?" I asked, confuse but calmly.

But inside my head I'm screaming, What the hell is going on here?! Why are the two of them holding hands? And I thought the moon goddess called me here?

"I don't know, Art. The moon goddess instructed us to go here." Orion answered.

"I called you here, because I would like to talk to you three."

The three of us turned and saw our mother standing by the stairs in a silver silk gown. She projects power, beauty and elegance. She is the symbol and the roots of our kind.

"What is so important, that you would talk to us personally." Ilea asks softly.

Our mother sat on her chair, "My sisters, the twins. Destiny and Fate, told me something quite... disturbing." She clasped her two hands together, "It is a prophecy."

I arched my right eyebrow, "Don't get me wrong mother, but... why does this concern us?"

"Because the three of you are the one in it."

The three of us looked at each other, stunned about the news.

"And," She continued, "The humans that you are assigned of. After thousands of years, the prophecy shall happen. You need to help your humans face the challenges that come into your way."

Ilea nodded, while I sat there still astounded. Orion just look emotionless and uptight. Goodness, my human would have to go through some hardships? This is not what I expected.

We were all about to stand up, when mother stopped us, "Wait, we are not yet finish."

Orion scowled, "There's more?" He sound so frustrated and I know he's ready to throw some fit. So I walked towards him and grabbed his had, to attempt to calm him. Thankfully, it worked.

She nodded sympathetically, "Ilea, Orion and Artemis, tomorrow will be your thousandth birthday. Tomorrow will be the day you will meet your mate. But a small warning, because Artemis and Ilea are twins they will have the same mate."

And for the first time I saw Ilea lost her composure, "What?! Mother this is outrageous. Don't you think it's unfair for the both of us?"

"Yes, I know that dear," My mother answered rubbing her temples looking stressed out, "But you don't have a choice. My sisters are playing some... game. I tried to stop them, but they said it is already written in the book of the future. It can't be change."

I sighed, "So does this mean our humans will also be twins?" I questioned.

She shook her head, "No. Your mate will have to choose between the two of you as to who will be her mate."

"Don't you think that's quite cruel? Isn't it bad enough that they are already facing a prophecy and now they want to leave one wolf Mateless? This is, this is unacceptable!" Orion reacted angrily.

Our mother smiled sadly, "I'm sorry about this children, but this isn't in my hands. After thousands of years, they intervened in the fates of my children. But we just need to let things unfold, because trying to change it will only make things worst."

"Okay..." I whispered, finally accepting my fate. The three snapped their heads in my direction in surprise.

Deep inside, I know this mate of ours will choose Ilea over me. It won't be a surprise actually. It is already happening this past few years, so I'm used to it. But my mate that is supposed to make you feel your needed? It's too much to take in.

"You can't possibly accept this Artemis!" Ilea shouted at me with disbelief.

I clenched my fists, "We can't do anything about this anymore! And you know deep inside, that our mate will choose you. So you should even be happy."

She shook her head angrily and walked out. I have never seen her act rashly, which is quite refreshing.

"You may go now." Our mother dismissed us, with a sad smile.

The two of us bowed our head in respect and left quietly. As soon as we're out of the palace, he hugged me tight. I buried my face in his chest.

"Why, why?" That's all I could ask him. My voice muffled, stopping my self from crying.

"Everything will be okay princess, everything will be okay."

And I believed, in which I wish I never did.
