I waited anxiously for the start of the new year. I had always loved this time of year because of the concept of "New Year, New You." I looked over at the clock. It reads 11:55. Those would be the slowest 5 minutes of the year. Nothing would make them faster. I thought for a moment about what my friends may have been doing right then. Sleeping maybe? I was lost in my thoughts when I heard my phone buzz. I picked it up and found that I had a text from an unknown number. The text read,
"Hey. Meet me at the front of school when we get back."
I found this text very odd. I had never gotten a text like this before. I wondered who it could be. I shrugged it away and turned my attention back to the TV. 11:57. I started to think about things that were coming up. The NFL playoffs, the MLB season, and (my favorite) minor league baseball. I just couldn't wait to get back to the stadium again. Once again, I was deep in thought when the New Years Special caught my attention once again. There was just under a minute left in 2015. I couldn't believe how fast the year had gone, and all the things that had happened. The count was down to 15. I started to count out loud with them, dying from anticipation. 10. Agh, it couldn't come fast enough. 5. 4. 3. 2. 1. The ball had dropped in New York. It was officially 2016. New experiences, new opportunities, a new year has begun. What I didn't know that night was that the text I had received earlier would prove to be something that started my year on the right foot.
