Chapter 2

*Chase's POV*

After having Skull drop me off, I was wondering about my personal life and my work life. It was true, I loved my job, but... Yes, the infamous 'but'. I just don't know if I could keep doing this. Having Jaycie here right before me, knowing that I have to tell her what happened as I just walked through the door, it made me concerned.

I didn't want to bring Jaycie into my world. Her world is already teetering as it is. With the wolves, the vampires, other supernaturals, and with us trying to hunt down the other people apart of the kidnappings. To add on to that, we still don't know what will happen if we broke Mikey's curse and Lavender's curse.

She hugged me as I put my jacket up. She brought me out of my thoughts and kissed my cheek. I smiled at her. Every worry I had slowly disappeared, all except one.

"How was the meeting?" She asked and that brought a frown to my face after I kissed her head.

"A meeting that was way overdue, I suppose."

"Oh, what was it about?" She asked curiously.

"Why don't we sit down and talk about this? I've got other things I'd like to talk about as well." I said to her.

She frowned curiously but nodded at me. We went to the same room that, I not so long ago had talked to Mr. Everheart in about protecting Jaycie. The first room. I sat down and she looked at me with a tilt of her head.

"So what happened that has you like this?" She asked.

Thinking about everything, the main one was that Skull's father wanted me to bring her to the agency. I didn't want that. I wanted my career to the side and Jaycie away from that realm. I didn't want to bring her in more danger. I sighed as I leaned back and pulled her to me gently. I messed with her hair.

"At the meeting, they wanted to talk about me and you. They also wanted to talk about Skull and Tania."

"For what?" She asked moving back. She looked me in my eyes, but I grabbed her hands.

"It's going to be alright," I told her and she sighed.

"What did they want, Chase?" She asked in a firm voice. "Who was there?"

"Well, most of the generals were there. They wanted to know about us and wanted me and Skull to break up with you two."

"What?" She asked gripping onto my hands more. Since she's completely shifted, she gripped on tighter than she has ever done before, but it didn't hurt.

"Hey, look at me," I told her and she did. "I'm not giving us up. I won't when I only got the guts to ask you out four or five months ago."

She didn't look happy still.

"Chase, do you like being what you are? A spy?" She asked.

I mean, do I? As I've grown up, I've questioned many things. Done things that I shouldn't have. I use to love this job like it was my life but having Jaycie made me change my views. Just looking at her beautiful hair that she straightened was mind blowing.

"I like being with you," I told her. "Jaycie, I could get a new job. A new life, but I can't and never would replace you."

"Chase, as sweet as that sounds, I want you happy." She said looking me in the eyes. I saw small tears and I knew what she was going to say.

"Don't. No, don't say it." I said. "I'm not giving you up to be a spy. If anything, I'll give up being a spy to be with you." I pulled her back. "Jaycie, I don't think I want to be a spy anymore. I... I just want to be with you."
