Melanie's P.O.V.

I woke up on a Monday morning, by my old alarm clock beeping in my ear.

"No." I moaned like a child. School was completely dreadful, and I completely HATED it with a passion. After five more minutes of staying in bed, I realized today is my first day at a brand new school, and I can't risk being late. I quickly jumped out of bed, after giving myself a mental speech about how I can't be late, and I have to be a good student, with good grades, and crap. I dragged my feet on the floor as I walked to my private bathroom. quickly turning the shower on. I was moaning and walking around like a tired zombie the entire time, that is until I stubbed my toe on the bottom of my sink

"FUCK!" I yelled out, but quickly put my hands of my mouth, as i remembered, it was 6 am. I quickly went back into my room and grabbed my towel, and then ran back into the bathroom. I hopped into the shower, and began washing.

About a few later, I got out. I looked at the time, it was 6:28. I grabbed my hair brush and began brushing my long and wavy hazel hair. At about 6:35, i was done and grabbing clothes. After going through practically all of my wardrobe, I decided on a lavender crop top that covered all the way down to my belly button, some light blue jeans, and some cotton candy pink Vans. I rushed back into the bathroom and did my hair. I blew dried it, making it stay wavy, but a tiny bit more straight. I then pulled my hair up into a nice NEAT bun with bobby pins and a hair tie, topping it all off with an innocent looking blue bow. Once I was done, I began my makeup. Just a tiny bit of mascara and foundation, and I was done.

I looked at the clock to see that it was 7:12. I smiled, as it didn't take me as much time as i thought it would. I went into my room and grabbed my school supplies and put it into my backpack. I went into my closet, and picked out a nice hoodie, just in case it was windy. It was winter right now, meaning in Australia, it was hot as hell.

I took my phone off of the charger, and went downstairs. I was quickly whisked away by a beautiful smell, consisting of - what I think - bacon and muffins. My mom loves baking, and so she does it all the time. I went into the kitchen, and was greeted  by my mother - and my two sister's - smile. I smiled back at them, and quickly sat down, dropping my backpack and placing my phone next to me.

"Hey Hon" My mother greeted me like she always has. Her accent was very clear, and i was always jealous of it. My mother was Australian, while my dad was AUrican. We lived in America for a long time, until a few days ago, my parents decided that we need to move here. My sister, Sydney ( No pun intended) had an Australian accent, but my sister - Lily - and I did not.

"Morning guys" I said back, and smiled as a plate was placed in front of me by my mother.

"How'd you sleep?" Lily asked. She was the youngest, but the most mature. I was 17, she was 15, and Sydney was 19. we all dreaded Sydney's age, due to the fact that she was going to college soon. She held it back because of us, but she's going this year in September.

"Very great." I said sarcastically. I really didn't have great sleep. I was so worried about today because it was my first day at my brand new High School.

I began to gulp down my food, while my mother yelled at me ( "Stop, you'll choke!"). Once I finished, I kissed my mother, and my older sister on the cheek, and grabbed my car keys, my backpack, and my phone. I waited for Lily for about 10 minutes, and then she had finally finished.

After about 10 minutes, I finally arrived. As I walked in, everyone turned their heads towards me. I felt shy about it, but tried to shrug it off. I got wolf whistles, and call me signs, and rolled my eyes at it. When I finally got into the locker hall, I began wandering to find my locker, and I couldn't find it at all. So, I tapped on a boy's shoulder to ask him for help. When he turned around, I wasn't expecting what I was looking at.

The boy was a brunette with a blonde stripe in it his hair. He had brown eyes that caught me in a cage for a seconds, and to top it ALL off, he had a beany
on, his curly hair popping out of it.

He stared at me with a perplexed face, and his mouth was opened. It were as if he were studying my face, like I was to his. I finally began to speak.

"Uh... Could you show me where this locker is?" I questioned him, showing him the piece of paper with my locker number on it.

"Um, uh  - I... Sure." He finally made up an answer that made sense. I smiled as he began leading the way to my locker. When we finally reached it, I showed a thankful smile.

"Thanks," I said. "I'm Melanie." I said, smiling

"I'm Calum." He said, doing a bright smile, making me melt inside.

"Hey, could I see your phone?" He suddenly asked. I gave him a confused look, but gave him my phone anyways. He typed something in, and then gave it back. I looked at my phone and smiled at what I saw.

 It was his number.

"I gotta get to class" He said "But call me or text me, 'kay?" He asked/stated

"Okay." I smiled, and said back.

I watched as he walked by, but then quickly turned around and opened my locker. I put everything that i didn't need right now in, and grabbed my books for my next class, which was math.

I began walking to math, and sat near a girl with blonde hair and gray-ish eyes. She was so pretty.

"Hi!" I said, feeling confident suddenly.

    "Hey!" she said back

"I'm Melanie." I said, and put my hand out.

"I'm Valerie" She said, and shook my hand. "Are you new?"

"Yeah." I said. "I just moved here from America. But hey, new school, new life."

"School ruins whatever part of life you even have or had left." She started

"School is  another word for hell."
