I walk back out to where me and my mother parked our cars. When I walk up my mom rolls her eyes and asks me what took so long. I ignored her and and walked over to my car and throw my keys and map inside. I shout to my mom to follow me then get in the car and drive around to parking lot C.
When I pull into the parking lot, I can see the dorms rooms. I pull into a parking spot directly in front of the entrance and get out of the car. I grab a couple things from the trunk and my mom does the same. I walk inside the front doors and my dorm room is literally the first room on the left.
"Well this is convenient honey." my mom speaks and I nod taking in the long hallway with several doors on each side. There are two floors of dorms in this building and I am so glad I'm on the first. The dorm building is co-ed, I just hope at least the showers are separated. I look at the map of the building on the wall. I notice that the bathrooms and showers are all the way at the other end of the hallway. The only downfall of being so close to the front I hope. I can deal with that. I heard the showers get crowded here around 7 am so I'll just have to get up earlier everyday.
"Are you going to head in or what?" my mom questions me. I set my stuff down and reach for my keys in my pocket. When I realize they aren't there, I groan and throw my head back.
'What now? Don't tell me you left your keys in the car." my mom rolls her eyes at me for the thousandth time today. "Well go get 'em and I'll wait for you here." I roll my eyes back at her and head back out to my car, luckily it's so close.
When I get outside I see someone has parked next to me and is leaning against their car talking on their phone. I get closer and can see that it's the rude boy from the office earlier. I roll my eyes at myself and walk up to my car. I open my door and can hear the boy smart mouthing someone on the other line. I try to listen, even though I don't really care.
"Actually I gotta go." he snaps at the person and then I guess hangs up. I dig under a pile of stuff on my passenger seat and grab my two sets of keys. When I turn around, the boy is standing extremely close to me.
"Excuse me." I say in a tone I've never heard myself talk in before. It sounded so hateful.
"You're the girl from earlier." he says with this annoying smirk on his face. I give him a look like 'yes now get out of my way' and he moves. I close my door and walk up to the sidewalk.
"See you around." he smirks at me again then goes around to get in his car. I tried to ignore it and go inside but for someone reason, it really bothered me.
I walk back to my room and shove the key in without saying anything to my mom. I didn't want to say anything about the boy 'cause she's the type to think he's a killer or something and will make me switch schools. She asks what's wrong but I just shrug and say I'm tired. When I push open the door I see a blue haired girl sitting on her bed listening to some loud rock music. I have never met someone with blue hair before. I'm surprised she has no piercings or tattoos, from what I can see.
"Oh hi!" the girl says jumping off her bed and pausing her music. She wraps her arms around me and hugs me. I hug her back and think she is really nice. So welcoming. "Welcome to Chico State where the studying is rare and the parties are often." I give her a little laugh but I can feel my mom tense up next to me. I look over at my mom and she has a confused, disgusted look on her face so I step in front of her and introduce myself. "Hi I'm Jessie, you must be Sara?" I half asked.
"That's me! Nice to meet you Jessie!" she smiles at me then looks around me at my mom.
"Oh this is my mom." I step to the side and my mom shakes her hand.
"Nice to meet you mam" The girl seems nice, and polite. My mom just nods and fakes a smile.
"Okay well I'm heading out to go to dinner and then I'll be back in about an hour." Sara tells us and walks out the door.
"Honey I don't know if you should stay in here." My mom warily looks at me and I shake my head.
"I'm staying mom. She's nice. I am not moving rooms and that's that." I demand and she throws her hands up as if saying 'don't come crying to me when you're life turns upside down' but my life won't turn upside down. Right?
