Lala

Why would her mom leave her this house? That was most definitely Lala's rhetorical question to herself every day. Lala's mom Denise was your average hard working mama, she had Lala when she was 14 years old. Living with her grandma around the hard cold DC streets of Stanton Terrace SE, Lala's dad was around but Denise was too young so she made it without her child's father. A determined young and independent Denise got her first apartment at 18 with her daughter, leaving her grandmother's home and starting a life for her and her only child. Lala looked up to her mother, adored her, she wished to be just like her mother. Lala and Denise were super close, no one understood their relationship only those two.

"Ma, how's Pennsylvania? I miss you down here man." asked Lala. "It's quiet, I'm home sick but this is my home now, I have to get used to it." Denise said with a long sigh.

Denise moved to Pennsylvania short noticed due to her job and gave her daughter the apartment, it was Lala's choice if she wanted to leave or not but being as though she loved Anthony, she wasn't leaving him for nothing. Lala was 20 years old, caramel brown skin, short haircut like Jada Pinkett Smith, thick thighs, big brown eyes and lips to make the next bitch side eye her.

"Alright, ma well I'm staying over Anthony's house tonight then, we going to come and visit you once you get settled in"

Anthony was Lala's boyfriend, she's been with him since she was 17 years old, and they met on Facebook. Around that time Lala had just broken up with her previous boyfriend. The timing was everything for both Lala and Anthony, they loved each other. They talked about marriage, children, & just sharing the rest of their lives together. They were indeed both happy in that relationship.

"Alright baby girl, you be careful out there and you call your momma if you need anything down there. Your momma one call away baby!" Denise said with seriousness in her voice.

"Ok mommy, don't worry you always first on the list. I love you lady, goodnight." Lala said as she hung up the phone.

She knew how her mom was with her and Lala never questioned how her mom approached things, Denise, didn't play.
