Chapter 55

"Max... What ar-"

"You left your calendar in the kitchen one day and it had all of our names in each block on a certain day" he said finally looking up at me "in not dumb Mal, we've dated and I got to know you well enough that this is something you would do" he finished

My eyes started to tear up.

"Aw Mal" he said brining me in for a hug "I didn't mean to make you upset. I just wanted to know" he said

"And you were right" I said "I wanted to have a full day with each of you guys before you know.. I just wanted to make sure you guys knew how much I love you guys and to make sure I prove it" I said a tear slipping.

"Mallory... You don't need to prove to us that you love us. We already know" he said

"I know... But I also wanted a full day with you guys so I can cherish it and be happy to have spent time with you all before my time was up" I said

"Mal stop" he said "I-I still need to process you not being here soon. I don't know what I'm going to do with you gone" he said choking up on his words. I could see some tears forming and it was my turn to engulf him in a hug.

"It's okay to cry Max. Trust me, I know. It helps with the pain" I said "just don't cry now, because I'm still here and that's what matters" I said

He hugged back tighter.

"You always knew what to say" he said

I pulled away. "I wanted to thank you" I said

"For what?" He asked looking at me

"For everything. For dealing with me, for making sure I wasn't alone, for loving me.. Even though it ended sooner than I wanted it too, it still happened and I cherish our moments together" I smiled

"Mal..."

"I want you to find yourself a girl Max... A girl that loves you for you and who will love Hannah. Hannah deserves a mother figure besides me and Sarah. I'll be gone soon, and Hannah is too young to comprehend that. But promise me that when you go out looking for the right one, you won't forget what you have in front of you" I said looking at Hannah and smiling at her. I looked back at Max and he was already looking at Hannah smiling.

"Of course" he finally said "this whole time I haven't found someone else, is because I was still in love with you" he said and my gaze turned to him once again.

"But I could see your love for David and I would never come across that. I let you go because I loved you too much" he said

I smiled "I love you Max... Just not in that way anymore" I said

"Kinda figured that out" he mumbled

"And now it's time for a New Beginning with you and Hannah" I said "after all this crap that has happened between us... I found David and you found Hannah. And look, we're still here for each other" I smiled and he smiled

"I guess you're right" he said

"Of course I'm right" I said slightly hitting his shoulder and he chuckled. I laid my head on his shoulder and gazed off to the sky.

"I'll always be here with you guys..." I trailed off "even when you think I'm not here, I will be. You won't be able to see me or hear me, but I'll be there" I said

"I know" Max said

We got home and Max carried Hannah upstairs to their room since she fell asleep in my car on the ride home. I went out back to see Cameron guys making some videos. I leaned against the sliding door frame and smirked. It made me smile and laugh watching then since it reminded me from when I was little.
