A long time ago,
There lived a girl
Of nineteen odd years.
She lived with her family
In the biggest mansion
At the peak of the town,
Away from the laughs
And hums of the townsfolk.
As each day would pass,
She felt herself growing weaker.
She grew more and more ill,
Hiding it from her loving family,
So as to not worry them.
Until one day,
When she felt she could hide nothing anymore,
She sat under her favorite tree,
Crying, sobbing hard as she felt
Her life slipping away.
For so long,
The tree had kept her company,
Been her only friend.
She shut her eyes,
It was the last time she
Would feel the delicate breeze
Against her porcelain skin.
The last time she
Could outstretch her weak arms
And pretend to float in the wind,
Pretend she was high above
The town she'd call home.
In the sky,
She imagined running against the cool wind,
She felt her body go numb,
And as she closed her eyes,
She drew her last breath.
Feeling the last of her life slip completely away
As everything around her went black.
She opened her eyes to
A beautiful green being.
The being smiled at her,
Reassuring her that everything would be ok.
She felt in her heart a familiarity.
The tree that had been with her
For all her years,
Sacrificed all of it's flowers for her.
In order to save her soul,
To become one with her
Beloved tree.
They joined together,
And she became the spirit of the tree.
Able to watch over her grieving family,
Watch her mother cry for her
As her body was found by her tree.
Watching over her family
And all the families to live in her
Old home
As the centuries flew by.
The tree never gave birth to another bud,
Never showed any flowers that
Had once drawn her to it's branches.
It was still Beautiful.
