Pendant: The Golden Leaf

Chapter III: Strange world

-That, that man. He is useless, he lay on his bed all day long. - Told one person
-I know, I know. He is only a mouth to feed. - Told another.
-Listen, we need to find a way to get rid of him. 
-How to get rid of Robert. He failed us in so many ways already.
-You know he love these books about stories of the past? I will send him to find mandragora. What do you think?. - Asked the first person.
-It might work, he would fear to pull it from the ground, of course if he would find it. 
-Yes, that is the point. He know that he failed us so many times already, I doubt he would find this plant.

Both voices ceased, and I've heard steps, someone was going in my direction. I had to escape before the person would find me, I ran to the window, but I had to get back quickly to the coat, I forgot. I did grab the coat but then a man appeared.

-Who, what? - Surprised man told.
-I am just passing  by, I hope you do not mind leaning me a coat of yours. - I've joked.
-What, what the hell?! - he screamed.
-Shush, you will wake up kids! - I did answer him, listening to his heart beating faster then before.

He was terrified by my presence, he ran to the cabinet in next room he did bring a bible and a cross, why the hell they always have to bring bible and the cross?

-Be gone evil spirit, I command you to be gone! - Man shouted while waving with a cross.
-You can't be serious - I've told him.
-Be gone, in name of our lord. - He did say.
-Listen, apparently someone told you that bible and cross can do anything in such situations. No they can't. Ah, and while you are here, can you tell me more about that Robert? - I've joked.
-Demon! Be gone. - He threw a cross in my face.
-Au, That did hurt you damn haunted man. - I've told irritated.
-Demon! I command you, be gone! - He did repeat even louder and threw a bible in my face.
-What the hell is wrong with you humans? - I've told.

In same moment another slender person entered the room with a shotgun, I knew, I knew I had to run now. Damn barbarians, at least I've got the coat. I ran to the forest, I had to act quickly, When that man, Robert would look for the plant, I could catch him and give him pendant. Therefore I decided to also find the mandragora, it was no hard task for me, I could track it easily by the scent. Therefore, I have found only one in whole forest. I could direct now that whole Robert when he will be looking for the plant. But I had to get his blood sample first. I had no other choice, I had to come back to the village next day, this time wearing a coat. I did look around for a hour, but finally found a man, Robert. I had just to get close and put a pendant on his forehead. Doors were closed, windows as well, only way in was through the chimney. It was not the best idea, but I had no other choice. I did climb on the roof of his house and walked to the chimney, I had to carefully go down, Thankfully there was no fire. I did reach the floor. Now, I had to get close to the man. He was few meters from me. When I did one step, floor started to creak. I had to move really slowly, I could not wake him. Thankfully, I have managed to get close enough, now I had only to put a pendant on his forehead. Then I felt that something did catch my leg. It was the man. He was still sleeping, but I didn't want to wake him up now, especially when he hold my fur. I did wait in frozen pose for a moment. When he finally released his palm, I could slowly put a pendant on his forehead. I did rub it into my fur first, so it would be warmer. I didn't want him to wake up because something cold is lying on his head. I did put it on his head, and it started to fill itself with his blood. I could take it now, I did walk slowly to the chimney, now I had only to climb up. It wasn't as hard as I thought. I could escape to the forest now, I had only to wait for him. He had to go for mandragora, but I had no idea when it will happen. I was watching the village for 3 straight days, when they finally entered his house. I knew its the time, I went further on the path, and walked away from the village. I didn't want him to eventually scream and make whole village chase me. I walked deeper in the forest, waited for Robert to show up. I have heard him finally. He was slowly walking in my direction, In one moment he ceased movement. Yes he saw me.

-I know you are here, there is nothing to fear. World is huge place, you my dear, you will never know who you meet on your lifetime long travel. You see, I know what they did want you to do, the "flower" is located in the northern part of forest. Beware, there is group of people ready to kill for it. - I have added to make it sound dramatic. - You should be careful roaming these parts of swamps. - I have told, 
-Wait, who are you? - Robert did yell - Tell me! - He did yell again.  
-Time will come, so you will understand. - I did answer

He did start to slowly walk in my direction, I had to think of something, fast.

-From where do you know me? What is the reason you tell me this?
-You know, sometimes things are not what they appear at first time. - I have answered him.

I did hang the pendant on the tree next to me.

-Wait, can you tell me what are you doing here? Please I need to know! - he did yell to me.

I did start to walk away, he did try to keep up with me. I had to think quickly, I did start to run. I knew that no human would manage to run as fast as me. I had to come back through the gate. To home.
