{Italic and underlined words are words in the Na'vi language. There will be definitions at the bottom if they aren't explained in the chapter. Also, because I would be too confused with pronouns and adjectives in translation, bolded and italic phrases are when people are communicating via the Na'vi language}

My pulse roared in my ears, though the forest around me was near dead silent. Nothing like the thrill and danger of the hunt, I thought sarcastically, gripping the tree I was on slightly tighter. The space beside me shifted slightly, reminding me that I wasn't alone. Her tail brushed against my leg, and I took it as a reassuring gesture. The roar of my blood was muffled to a dull pounding, and the forest seemed to erupt into noises that were vaguely familiar to me. Our prey had probably been scared off by now, but I reveled in the sounds. Whirring of the blades on a air craft, flora being trampled by uniltìrantokx feet, orders being given, and a voice.

"One idiot with a gun is enough." Grace? I was tempted to peer over the edge of the branch we were on to get a better look, but a glare from my companion made me think otherwise. She started quietly shuffling along the branch, a sign we should hunt elsewhere or return to Hometree. I started to follow, but something held me back. A chill crept up the base of my spine and left my tail in tingles.

I grabbed the hand of my companion before she got too far from me and gripped it tightly. But when she turned to glare at me, she froze when she saw my expression of fear.

"Hrrap," I whispered quickly. Her ears drew back and her face held a subtle fright yet was otherwise unchanged, indicating she had heard me over my racing heart. We used the sounds of the uniltìrantokx crashing through the foliage to mask our rushed escape, my companion leading the way towards a quieter section of the land for us to hunt.

After nearly 20 minutes of travelling, I finally decided to speak up.

"Do you think those dream walkers survived whatever danger was there?"

My companion scoffed. "I hope not," she replied curtly, not looking back to answer me.

My ears drew back briefly, showing my distaste for her comment. "Why, Má'lain? Are their lives not important?"

"Better them than us," she growled under her breath, causing my tail to lash side-to-side in an angry manner. But I knew better than to show my emotions around the tribe.

Bad things happened.

I was quiet for a few moments, before I cleared my throat slightly. " I wish to return to Hometree, if you would please escort me, sister." Má'lain nodded and led us down a different path in the direction of Hometree.

The feathers and flowers woven into my hair danced along behind me as we swiftly navigated through the treetops. Colorful vines were wrapped around my wrist, up my arms and intertwining around my neck with the vines from the other arm. I slowed slightly to adjust my 'top', which was just a large leaf that was cut into a strip and wrapped around my barely-existent breasts. My loincloth was the same color as my top, a light purple and light blue pattern. It swayed with my momentum as I quickly caught up with my companion.

As we entered the large tree, some of the tribe turned to see our entrance before quickly averting their gazes. That's when the whispers began.

Even though I've been part of the Omaticaya people for about 14 years, not many were friendly to me. They were still suspicious of me and my random appearance that night. It doesn't help my case that they know I'm not entirely Na'vi. Má'lain barely tolerates me, but she respected me for what I could do and did for the clan.
I was taught the ways of the people by the Olo'eytkan, Eytukan, and his family, and practically adopted me as their own daughter.

Neytiri, my older adoptive sister, touched my shoulder as she walked out of the tree. "Za'u." She said, before she continued out of the tree. I gave Ma'lain a nod in farewell and followed after Neytiri.
