I gawked at her “E-erm what facial expression?” I asked confused with her answer
“You know the facial expression where the person is all love-struck,” She answered impatiently and waved her hands. “Forget that, tell me how does he look like? Does he have a decent job? No daughter of my will go out with a guy who's jobless. Is he good looking? Masculine? Tall?”
I started to get a really bad headache just keeping up with my mother's questions. Moreover I was concerned with the facial expression she mentioned. Honestly did I really just make a facial expression which indicated (in my mother's words) 'love-struck'? I have just realised I have crush on him and my mother is bombarding me with words (love-struck) which I do not believe I feel towards him. I groaned loud enough for my mother to hear, “Mum stop with the questions, you are starting to give me a headache.” I winced at my mother as I started to massage my temple to relieve some tension.
“Oh sorry,” my mother muttered and sat down on my bed with her hands on her lap.
“Mum, Firstly I am not love-struck...No mum listen to me,” I held my finger in the air to silence her as I saw her trying to interfere with her own comeback. “What was I saying? Oh yeah, I do not like him and even if I did I would tell you” (or not) I lied to my mother. “So stop asking me 100 questions about someone I don't like or remotely find attractive. I want to focus on my career before I could even think about my love life. I know you will start on about I should do both but mum this is my life so please let me live it my way.” As soon as I finished my life changing speech I looked at her mother to see if she was annoyed, upset but I was surprised to see her smiling at me.
“Okay love, I'm sorry for interfering,” She replied honestly
“OMG OMG OMG OMG!!” Sally came running into my room so excited that she started to jump up and down in the same spot.
“Darling, what's the matter?” My mother asked with concern.
I started to laugh at my best friend behaviour, “What's got you excited?” I asked as soon as I calmed down.
Sally came running to me and held my hands as she talked excitedly, “I asked one of my work colleague to let me know if there was any vacancies , you know for you.” I nodded at her response, “And she just rang me, to tell me there is a job vacancy at Cole's Limited.” My eyes bulged out from my socket (not literally) but you understand how shocked I was at her revelation. “But the thing is it's a vacancy for a P.A,” She finished her sentence.
“Who cares” I yelled excitedly. “If I get this job I could show them what a great asset to the company I will be and maybe progress within the company.” The only thing going around my head was that I would be able to leave the library and get away from the awful annoying Mary.
“Myra darling, who is Cole Limited?” My mother asked me confused.
“Mum, they are like the biggest richest company you can imagine. If I get place there...”
My mother cut me off with another one of her questions, “What do they do?”
I rolled at my mother’s question, “Mum, don't you know? They own so many companies around the world ......” I drifted off not knowing what there company actually did except for the fact that they were well known, so I looked at Sally to help me out.
“Oh you women, don't even know anything about Cole Limited” She expressed with horror.
“OMG, If I don't know that what am I going to do?” I asked them getting all worried that if I blow this off I won't be able to able to get an opportunity like this but sometimes my mind works wonder and I looked up at Sally with a pleading look.
“Sally could you please help me to know everything I need to know about their company to get me this job?”
“No!” She stated firmly.
“Why not?” I asked.
“I have so much research to do for my article.”
“I'll help you out, you know how good I am at researching stuff.” I gave her another pleading look.
“Hmm that is true, okay fine.” She said. I smiled at her and hugged her tightly. Suddenly everything in my life looked brighter and happier.
