Chapter 11-Online Dating for Dummies

Start from the beginning

I sighed to myself to calm down my anger and got up to let my mother inside. My mother strutted in and sat on the edge of the bed whereas I took my place on the floor leaning on the bed.

“At least your bedroom is clean compared to the living room.” She mumbled which caused me to roll my eyes. “I'm sorry for buying that book; I just thought that maybe it could help.” She said.

“Well mother, FYI I am capable of finding someone myself so please do not go on about how I lack any skills in that department.”

“Oh but Myra I would never doubt your sex skills or in your words skills in that department.”

I groaned as I put my face in my hands.

Please just someone kill me right now.

I took a deep breath and looked at my mother as I said the next sentence carefully so it sinks into my mother's head. “Mum, I was not on about my sex skills, I was on about skills to find someone.”

“Oh.” My mother responded. “I'm sorry I just thought ...”

I cut her off before she could say anything else to embarrass me. “No mum, just please don't finish the sentence.”

“Okay darling, so who's this Chris guy?”

How I wish the ground would open and suck me up so I don't have to have this conversation with my mother. “He's no one.” I answered.

“But Sally said you been messaging every night and that you have grown to like him.” My mother asked innocently as her brown eyes shined brightly.

Argh!! Sally you are so dead!!

“No mother, we have messaged each other but it's not every night. Sally is just giving you false information.”

“Okay, what about you grown to like him?” Asked my mother.

I looked at her not knowing what to say to her at all. I opened my mouth to answer her but I quickly shut my mouth not knowing how to answer this question, I know I have a crush on him but I couldn't really tell her that. Knowing my mother she would take this tiny crush and start dreaming about marriage and babies, she won't let me hear the end of it or more annoyingly she would start giving me advice how to talk to him which would end in a disaster.

“Mum...” I started to let her know I don't like him but my mother cut me off.

“Oooooh!” She jumped up excitedly “Oh my gosh , YOU do like him” my mother spoke with so much energy.

I looked up at her shocked as she giggled and looked excited like a kid high on candy. “N-no I don't,” I said to correct her but I guess she saw right through me and my big white lie.

'Don't lie to me, your facial expression told me everything'
