Apples fall from oak and dark oak trees. Each oak or dark oak leaf block has a one in two hundred chance of dropping an apple, although you will get better odds if you use a tool with the Fortune enchantment.
In addition to being a quick snack, apples are used to make the very valuable golden apples.
