An Unlikely Friendship (discontinued)

Chapter 1

Dan's POV

"Firs' ye'rs, this way!" A large man bellowed, signalling the new arrivals towards a lake.

Dan hesitantly followed. His family has a legacy at this school, and he was supposed to carry it out.

Dan Howell, the awkward mess of an eleven year old boy was in no way like his family.

He might be sarcastic like them, but he definitely isn't as rude. And he sure as hell isn't willing to boast in front of everyone about his family.

So instead of pushing ahead like his mother advised, he followed like everyone else, except he isn't chattering nervously.

"Come 'ere!" The large man called to him "you'll be in this boat 'ere." He said, pointing to a boat already holding three kids.

Dan approached the boat and took note of the three different people in the boat, one had pale skin and black hair. His eyes were kind and he was smiling.

The other kid was a girl, the only one he noted, her hair was dark, kind of wavy, and her eyes didn't have the same gleam in them that the boy's did. But she looked nice. She was talking to the third kid, laughing every now and then. The third in the boat had unnatural hair, hair that looked like it might've been a strawberry blonde (leaning more on the blonde side) but was coloured so many times and bleached so much the colour was diluted.

He looked nice too, all three did. Welcoming him with smiles and choruses of "hi" and "what's your name."

They're not gonna like me Dan thought nervously, they'll figure out who my parents are and never talk to me.

He was saved from making the first impression by the pale kid smiling and saying "hi! I'm Phil Lester"

Dan smiled "hi." He mumbled "I'm Dan Howell." The girl, who's name is Cat, almost fainted "you're a Howell" she sputtered out.

Phil and the other boy, Tyler, looked unaffected. "Are you two muggle borns?" He asked awkwardly, not fazed by Cat's reaction.

They nodded, causing Dan to nod in understanding.

After that awkward encounter he found that Phil and Tyler were really nice and kind, Cat didn't speak much until she must've seen that he wasn't too mean.

I have friends. He thought suddenly real friends.
