Katie's POV
My vision when blurry and the last thing I remember was seeing my mom and dad being hauled into the back of an ambulance.
Breathing hard, I sat up quickly. It took me a second to take in my surroundings and realize I was in a hospital? Where was I? Just then, I noticed I was wearing a hospital gown. I glanced frantically around the room and saw Nat on the other side of the room. Still knocked out. On the opposite side of the room, was a floor to ceiling window. We where at the capital. I yanked the wires out of my right arm that were giving me medicine. Careful not to make any noise, I climbed out of the uncomfortable hospital bed and towards the exit of my room. As I slowly pushed the door open, I checked for nurses or doctors. Then I quickly tipped-toed down the white hallways, filled with many other closed doors.
"Will she be ok?!" I heard a male voice growl as I slowly approached the main lobby. That voice. I heard it in my dreams, telling me to never run away from my fears and instead to fight them.
"Yes Mr. Hawthorne, she'll be ok! She's still just a little weak, but she should get better soon." The doctor assured him. Then it hit me like a arrow hitting its prey. Gale.
"G-gale?" I asked quietly. My voice was quivery as I stood in the middle of the hospital hall. Gale's head turned and his grey-blue eyes met mine. His shoulders dropped as he ran to me with his arm opened. Tears filled my eyes as he ran towards me. He pulled me into a tight hug. I cried into his shoulder as he pulled me closer.
"Don't ever scare me like that again" he whispered I'm my ear.
"I-I won't" I cried harder as I tightened my grip. Gale, my big brother, sighed in relief as he pulled away and looked at me.
"Why aren't you in bed?" He chuckled. I laughed as he wiped the last of my tears away.
"What do ya say we get you back in bed for some rest. Then I can give you a tour of the capital tomorrow!" Gale smiled. I nodded excitedly. Being outside of district 12 felt good, but being reunited with Gale felt even better.
