((A/N, I wanted to say, thanks to @beyexi on Twitter for the fan art. Thanks for reading.))
Kirstie Maldonado was my best friend- but also Scott Hoying's, which was a struggle, because we hated each other. Kirstie couldn't handle it.
Scott and I have known each other since we were ten; we met when we were in a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory play, us both auditioning for the lead part.
He got it. That's where our feud began.
"Come on," Kirstie whined as we were walking to class. "Please join- we don't have a tenor." She whined. "We need you!"
"Scott's in there." I reminded her. "I don't want to join the glee club -or whatever you call it." I said, stubbornly crossing my arms over my chest.
She started pouting, looking down at her shoes as we were walking, almost to our anatomy class.
"Fine!" I caved in, unable to go through the unbearable silence for another second. "I'll think about it." I muttered.
"Thank you so much, Mitch!" She said before pulling me into one of those middle-of-the-hallway-hugs. She was considerably shorter than me- about six inches. I towered over her.
She was glowing now as she pulled away from our hug- she had been begging me to join since they started. There was only four -now five, including me- people in the club: Kevin (whom everyone called K.O.), Avi, Kirstie, Scott, and now me. I had most of my classes with all of them- all of my classes, though, were with Scott, which was a hassle.
Kirstie and I walked into the class ten minutes before the bell, Scott already talking to some of his friends.
"Scott, guess what?!" Kirstie yelled -it seemed as loud as she possibly could- when we walked in. Scott looked up at her, a surprised look on his face. "Mitch is joining the club!" She exclaimed, running over to him.
My face turned red as I started walking to my seat -all the way across the room from Scott's. I kept my head down, even though I knew Scott was looking at me. I sat down, sitting in the chair that was closest to the window, Kirstie's seat beside me. I pulled out a book, hearing Kirstie and Scott's conversation from across the room.
All of a sudden, the room got quiet, and I heard Kirstie encouraging Scott to do something. I dared not to look up, my nose buried in my book.
A second later, I heard some shuffling and someone was next to me.
I looked up, a tall, blond man hovering over me. Scott looked awkward, and I asked with a raised eyebrow, "Can I help you?"
"Yeah, Kirstie said you were joining the club," he said, nudging his head over to his group, Kirstie now joined in it. "I'm glad you are. We need someone with your voice."
"Thanks." I mumbled, keeping it at that as I looked back at my book.
By then, the kids in my class started shuffling in. Scott just nodded at what I said, and made his way back to his seat.
My cheeks were red again- I wasn't embarrassed, I was mad he had the audacity to come and speak to me.
The bell rang, and all the students went to their seat, including Kirstie. She started talking about how excited she was that I joined the club, and all I could think to myself was that this was gonna be a long class.
