***above is Hayley and Alex
Also, now that I have more than one story going updates are going to be less frequent but they will still happen
We took the first aid kit from my backpack to clean out the wound. "Let me help" Nick said. "I know some general first aid." I nodded and took out a bottle of rubbing alcohol and a cloth. "This is gonna hurt like hell, James" I stated plainly. James nodded and took my free hand.
My hand shook slightly but I pressed the cloth with rubbing alcohol to James' shoulder. I heard a loud gasp of pain and James squeezed my hand so hard it felt like it was going to break. My hands started shaking even more. Nick stood over me and eased my hand off the cloth, taking my position.
After, about ten minutes, Nick had sterilized and bandaged James' wound and had also made a sling for James' arm. James was ghost white and shaking slightly as he walked back to me and sat on the floor.
"You ok, James?" I asked. James shook his head, eyes glued to the ground. I sat down next to him and asked softly. "What's wrong, James." James took a deep breath then looked me dead in the eyes and asked "If I had died what would you have done?"
I was caught completely off guard and stuttered a little as I answered. "What kind of question is that?" James sighed and shook his head. "You would've lost your will to live."
And I was shocked he knew me so well. I don't know why I was shocked because he had known me for 16 years and been my best friend all that time but still.
The silence that followed was deafening. James turned and looked at me, his blue eyes hard. "Vivienne, if I die you have to keep living, for everyone you ever loved. Because if you die their memory dies and nothing will be left." I nodded and swallowed hard, staring back at him, my blue eyes filled with sorrow.
James relaxed and leaned back against the wall, wincing slightly as his arm hit the wall, and closing his eyes. And the silence remained. We just sat, enjoying each other's presence, deep in thought.
"You don't talk much" Nick noted, sitting down in front of me. I turned to him and answered "I've never talked much." "And why is that?" I sighed and replied "Because people never really wanted to talk to me." Nick raised an eyebrow. "Why? You seem to have an intriguing air of mystery." I turned to him and looked at him, my blue eyes cold and deadly. "Because I don't like people and I don't trust easily. I trust James and that's it."
Much to my confusion, Nick didn't look taken aback. Instead he laughed and said "Introverted I see. Well, you're going to have to trust us because we're your only chance of survival. They know you're still alive and they're gonna try to find you and capture you, maybe kill you, I don't know."
My eyes widened with fear and I stuttered out fearfully "They know? They'll kill us?" Nick's facial expression changed and he suddenly became more grim. "Yeah, they've only been aiming to capture us so far but we need to keep on the move. That's why we're heading to my place, it's in a valley. And when I say in a valley I literally mean in the wall of the valley." I gasped and said "How?" Nick shrugged and mumbled "My parents were rich, before they died that is. We had other houses around the country but the valley one was to be used only for emergencies."
I suddenly felt terrible for Nick. So far, he had always been a happy guy, keeping up everyone's morale. He was providing for all of us and I felt a sudden rush of gratitude toward him. "Thanks Nick. For helping all of us."
Alex, Cammie, and Hayley walked in. They looked cold and tired, Alex's hands covered in blood. "Nick where's the water?" he asked, looking at his hands in disgust. Nick gestured toward a closet and Alex poured it over his hands, washing the blood off them. "How's James?" Cammie asked fearfully. I nodded and answered "He's ok now. I'm scared though that it'll get infected." Hayley glanced over at him and asked "Can i check it? I was training to be an EMR so I know a lot about first-aid." I nodded.
